Without knowing anything of the build...

will 250ish HP's
52-55 AC (not counting paladin aura, haste, uncanny dodge, recitation, ranger barkskin)

attack is
+31+31+36+41 (includes a -5 for combat expertise)

damage is low (only 24 str)
relies on special weapons (puncutere, vorpal, disruptor, etc)

how does that stand up to top end elite melee?

I assume you're aiming for high AC so you can Tank? In that case, I hope you have a maxed Intimidate, because you won't be able to generate much aggro otherwise. If not, why the AC? Offtanks/support meleers won't be drawing much aggro or taking much damage.

This is a rogue build so getting aggro is the easy part =)

I figured here would be the right place to ask if my defensive stats will suffice.
If mid 50's AC will get torn apart I will be in trouble.

Mid 50s AC should be fine by all accounts. Now, if you're Fort and Will save are only in the low teens, you may have some issues.

250ish HP is alright, but the more the better. At 250 HP, you'll not be able to take that many hits, but with an AC over 50 you'll do great.

EDIT: Anyone noticed AC is getting popular again? So many Intimitanks build oping out recently.

yeah saves is a weakpoint...

19 fort, 29 ref and 14 will (19 vs enchantment spells)

being an elf and taking the enhancements I hope to have my saves good enough not to get held all the time heh.

Ok cool, thanks for you input.

With no level cap increase for a while (and none coming anytime soon) and no new content for a few months, people have started branching out into new areas. Hell, I've even gone ahead and rolled up a 32pt cleric simply to replace my 28pt one, simply to keep myself occupied. ;)

Well, the "held" thing is not so much of an issue since FOM (spell or boots) will negate that. GCommand could be a bigger issue. Regardless, I was thinking more specificially about your Fort save. As DnD moves into the higher levels, it becomes less about "save or take X damage" and more about "save or die". The "or die" stuff is typically tied to the Fort save. 19 on an elven rogue platform actually is pretty nice. I hope that's not fully buffed. ;)

I've got a fighter with those HP 260 and a bit less AC (low 40s with shield).

There are some critters that can hit you no matter what your AC is and you need to watch out for those. I find berzerker ogres are the worst. Their crits are insane so on elite heavy fort is a must. Aside from that I do fine most of the time. I have issues if I pull agro on everything in a big room or if we have no combat healers and I'm up against a boss monster of some kind. With a decent healer I've tanked the Tor dragons and the storm reaver without much issue and only a 30+ Ac (fighting without a shield). Without a healer around I get munched by the big hits. I can self heal but its not fast enough to deal with heavy combat damage, but enough to stay up long enough for the cleric to notice my need of a heal. Anyway, he goes out of his way to draw agro and he does fine although another 50 HP or so would make it a bit easier.

On the other end of the spectrum, I have a rogue who runs around with less about 160hp, has a pretty craptastic AC, and can generate agro like no-ones buisness, but he stays alive just fine by moving around and trying to kill anything that he gets the attention of asap. So even if your defenses kind of suck, you can make up for that with clever play.

Some folks can get their AC above the 50 mark but its usualy only by virtue of temporary boosts or utterly crippling their offense. If you can run solid at 52 I think it puts you in the upper end of the AC spectrum.

umm cough cough... yeah that's buffed.. well self buffs. I can get it in the low 20's if I have to but yeah... what I listed is kinda what I gotta work with.

I realize there are many more insta kill spells comming up and those are fort based. I will just have to rely on a semi decent save and deathblock items.

Once the cap goes up, I'll add 2 paladin levels to adjust to the higher saves required.

(at 20th the breakdown would be 4 fighter / 3 pally / 13 rogue )

because there is no limit to the dex I can apply and that we have not reached the cap on armor bracers (+8) and of course another 2 AC from my 3 pally levels, I should be able to scale fine for the required AC at extreme levels.

looking forward to test it at 14th and beyond lol.
