View Full Version : Unable to load in to world

I discovered a strange error with DDO in the afternoon that has persisted.
I am able to log onto the character selection screen on Khyber without any problems. (In fact, the load in screen for the game is suspiciously fast.) However, once I select a character and begin to load all progress halts (no blue bar even appears) and connection to the server is lost. I am able to get on to a character on Khyber maybe 1/12 tries but I am always unable to join local chat channels, am missing several of my items (as though they have not loaded yet) and will experience the same disconnect from the server whenever I attempt to change zones.
I created a new character on Thelanis to see if this problem was unique to Khyber. While I am able to log on to my Thelanis character with slightly more regularity (around 1/4 tries) I still experience the disconnect in a loading screen after about a dozen zone changes.
I am aware of the other thread detailing problems with connecting to the server in the first place and I find the timing a little suspicious.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Same issue, see Mashers thread above. Just did it to me where I was fine logging in and then I go into the Marketplace.
Bam - stuck on loading screen, lost connection to server issue.
Its not likely just you or your ISP as now 4 of of us are having a similar issue.

There are several people across multiple games from canadia and the western US that are having isp related connection issues. If you are unable to log in post a tracert to gls.ddo.com please.

Hip, if what you state is true your computer is disconnected from the network (since its not even getting further than 1 route) check your connection as well as network software.

Ok, not sure what this means but.....
1 2ms <1ms <1ms 192.168.1.1
2 * * * request timed out
3 * * * request timed out
etc
repeats 'request timed out' all the way to
30
I have no other internet issues or problems. I can 'ping' gls.ddo.com and get a reply forever without a missed or timed out request.

Having the same problem bleh, just paid for access sitting in airport waiting for plane. Loads all the way to character screen, then fails to load character and disconnects from server. I have internet access here with no problem so must be on turbine's end. What a disappointment. I am running tracert gls.ddo.com and it is timing out at every step up to 14 timese then it ends. Whoa is me.

If you are playing on a wifi at an airport that is most likely why you can't connect as they undoubtedly have port security set up.

you are obvisously reading the tech forums, but you only comment on the airport issue????
What about the other 3-4 of us, who have posted TraceRTs?

After some investigation, it appears that COX networks in AU (and only in some areas of AU) are having troubles connecting to some US servers. It seems to be limited to gaming, which means that it's probably either some sort of UDP packet shaping or an actual problem with their network or some piece of hardware in the chain to our servers. Your best bet is to contact COX and see if there's anything they can do. Feel free to post your findings in this thread.
