I pulled a set of Sacred +5 mithral full plate of command rr dwarf, after I stopped giggling with delight I showed it off to my guildies and decided it was time to make a build to utilize it. After looking thru the fighter and pally forums I decided to make a hybrid, but I need some help. At first I thought I would go 11/ftr 3/pally for immunity to fear, LoH, and divine grace but I saw alot of builds went to lvl 4 pally for other pally enhancments and spells. Spells are not so important to me. What I want is max AC and max Intimidate. After looking at the enhancments for pally I saw divine righteousness, thought that would make a nice addition too but that is lvl 6 pally req. anyway I think i am rambling(its 2am). If someone could tell me the best lvl mix and any other suggestions for a top notch Intimitank build i would appreciate it.

Here's what i got so far

Dwarf LG 1/ftr 2/pally

str 16
dex 15
con 14
int 12
wis 9
cha 11

equipment

+5 sacred mithral fullplate of command
+4 mithral tower shield
chaosguarde
kardins eye
necklace disease immunity protection +4
or
ring sacred protection +4
a stockhold of kewl dwarven axes

well I am begining to think I should have done this earlier or at least when i had some coffee bleh

Thanks in advance to everyone who responds,

V

I don't know If I had that armor the only thing I would be thinking is Dwarven Battle Cleric...

Well... since your stats are so **** close to mine...

PREFACE:

A while ago, when I was about 200 points from 1750 favor, I began to think about what I should roll. A build that caught quickly my attention was Riot's Tank Build. So I took the buld and put it in Ron's Character Planner. As my only melee fighter is a paladin, I was troubled by the low saves it had and I wasn't ableto see a way to make all of them reach the 20s. So, as I like to do this, I played with the Character Planner to see what I could do. After a few try,I found something really interesting. A build that beats Riott on almost everything.

Then, I sent some PMs to Riot to see what his Saves are, how reached them. What is his intimidate, or he reached the number he talked about in his thread. If he missed evasion since Mod 4, etc. In fact, I sent him so many PMs that he must now hate me. I was surprised by the number he gave, they were really good, more then what I expected. But if Riott can reach these number, so Borror can! Don't think I'm saying Riot's build isn't a good one, it's all the opposite. Riott is a good 28 point build, if I was creating my first character and I would want to roll a Tank, I'd roll Riott. This build needs is 32 points and some tomes. Look at this build as a tribute to Riott as all him trying to do is beating him, which isn't an easy task. So now, tell me what you think.

STATS:

Borror Z'rro, Dwarven 12 Fighter/ 2 Paladin

Str 16 + 2 Enhancement + 3 Level = 21
Dex 15 + 1 Tome = 16
Con 10 + 2 Tome + 2 Enhancement = 14
Int 12 + 1 Tome = 13
Wis 8
Cha 14 + 1 Tome + 1 Enhancement = 16

Note that this doest include items other then tomes. Tomes are kinda required to roll Borror, other gear will depend on what I'll be able to get. In theory, I could have a +5 Mithril Fullplate of Command, but I don't. The only items that are taken for acquired is +5 Mith FP and +5 Mith Tower Sheild and a +4 Dex item, which is not that rare (talking about the Dex item).

FEATS:

Normal feat are in italic.
Fighter feats are in yellow.
Class abilities are in green.

1. Fighter - Toughness, Weapon Focus : Slashing Weapons
2. Paladin - Aura of Good, Smite Evil
3. Paladin - Divine Grace, Lay on Hands, Iron Will
4. Fighter - Combat Expertise*
5. Fighter
6. Fighter -Weapon Specialization: Slashing Weapons , Dodge
7. Fighter
8. Fighter - Improved Critical : Slashing Weapons
9. Fighter - Bullheaded
10. Fighter - Greater Weapon Focus: Slashing Weapons
11. Fighter -
12. Fighter - Improved Shield Bash, Shield Mastery
13. Fighter -
14. Fighter - Greater Weapon Specialization: Slashing Weapons
*Note : I will eat a Int tome before level 4.

If you take a look at Riott's feat selection, you'll notice that it the same except Lightning Relfexes and Luck of Heroes. The reason is simple, I think that Riot have the perfect feat selection, but as I'm not human and not a pure fighter, I loose two feats. Lightning Relfexes is more then covered by Divine Grace and I had to cut an other feat, Luck of Heroes took the hit as I have great saves from my Cha.

SAVES:
Code:
Fort Ref Will

Base Saves: +11 +4 +4
Saves from Charisma: +3 +3 +3
Saves from Feats: +0 +0 +2
Aura of Good: +1 +1 +1
From Stats: +2 +3 -1
Total Saves: +17 +10 +9

Those saves are much better than Riott's also, boosting Charisma by the means of items or a +3 tome could make them better. Add to that +5 from Dwarven Spell Defense versus spells and +2 from Eagle Splendor (can be casted from wands) if you don't have spare slots for a Cha item. Remember that those save are "naked" saves. No Dex, Con, Wis, Cha, Rabbit Gloves, Planar Grid or Resistance item to boost them.

SKILLS :

Well, it's easy as any tank : Intimidate, Balance and Jump. When taking your two Paladin levels, keep Intimidate boosted and but then rest in Balance. Also, dump a point into tumble to be able to...well... Tumble. However, you'll need a Tumble item to be able to Tumble.

Hit Points :

140 Base
+20 Heroic Durability
+15 Toughness Enhancement
+16 Toughness
+28 Con (including +2 Tome but excluding gear)
219 Total "naked"

About the same as Riott, the only difference is that he put his tome in Str. I could add +10 from 150 Dragon favor but so could Riott.

ENHANCEMENT :

Level 1 (Fighter)
Enhancement: Dwarven Spell Defense I
Enhancement: Fighter Item Defense I
Enhancement: Fighter Intimidate I

Level 2 (Paladin)
Enhancement: Dwarven Shield Mastery I

Level 3 (Paladin)
Enhancement: Paladin Charisma I

Level 4 (Fighter)
Enhancement: Dwarven Constitution I
Enhancement: Dwarven Shield Mastery II
Enhancement: Dwarven Spell Defense II
Enhancement: Fighter Strength I

Level 5 (Fighter)

Level 6 (Fighter)
Enhancement: Dwarven Axe Attack I
Enhancement: Dwarven Toughness I
Enhancement: Dwarven Toughness II
Enhancement: Fighter Intimidate II
Enhancement: Fighter Toughness I

Level 7 (Fighter)
Enhancement: Dwarven Armor Mastery I

Level 8 (Fighter)
Enhancement: Dwarven Constitution II
Enhancement: Dwarven Spell Defense III

Level 9 (Fighter)
Enhancement: Fighter Armor Mastery I
Enhancement: Fighter Tower Shield Mastery I

Level 10 (Fighter)
Enhancement: Fighter Intimidate III

Level 11 (Fighter)
Enhancement: Fighter Strength II

Level 12 (Fighter)
Enhancement: Dwarven Shield Mastery III

Level 13 (Fighter)
Enhancement: Dwarven Axe Attack II
Enhancement: Dwarven Axe Damage I

Level 14 (Fighter)
Enhancement: Fighter Critical Accuracy I
Enhancement: Fighter Intimidate IV

First thing to know about enhancement is that they are changed every time you get new equipment. Ex : Dwarven Constitution II is useless if it gives an odd Con number.

The enhancement is the real difference between Riott and Borror. As I am 90% sure of Riott's current Enhancements I can compare the difference between us. First of all, I'm a great hater of Action Boost, I've tried them, never loved them. Riot seems to like them so it does a great difference. I have as much Str, Toughness, Armor Mastery and Tower Shield enhancements as him. He took Armor Mastery, I didn't but if I did it would have cost me 2 APs less. So, I gain +3 versus spells, 3 DR/- when shield blocking, +2 to-hit with my Dwarven Axe and +1 Con (as Riott took Human Adaptability : Con). The only loss I suffer is Improved Recovery, it's somehting I would have loved to keep, but you can't have it all....

CONCLUSION :

So, this is my future Tank. He has better Saves, better Intimidate potential, more DPS then Riott, low LoH (60 with a +4 Cha around) and healing wand usage.Tell me if I should roll it, what I've missed. Give me insight. Praise Borror or smash him into pieces as long as it's contructive critism. I hope to get comments about it from Maldini, Riot, Blazer and Gangwulfe. I did not post here any AC breakdown as there many thread about maxed AC breakdown.

I would only post here the AC/saves with the gear I had if I would already have made Borror.

UPDATES:

05-02-2007 Changed Luck of Heroes for GWS : Slashing, had to move feats order to do so.

05-05-2007 Changed the order of Weapon Focus and Dodge as that +1 to-hit is really andy in low level stuff and because it allows me to exchange Dodge in a fighter slot if I need to respec. If I would have left Weapon Focus where it was it would have been really expensive to change.

05-05-2007 Just learned that Dwarf had a basic +2 Bonus to Saving Throwns vs spells, changed the numbers accordingly.

05-05-2007 Switched the order between GWF : Slashing and Shield Mastery.

05-05-2007 Dropped Improved Shield Mastery for Bullheaded

05-05-2007 Swap the order of Bullhead and Improved Shield Bashing.

Sorry, I didn't have the time to rework it yet. It needs some work as I now know the build, but what you have to know to build it is there. I'm thinking about dropping Improved Shield Bashing for soemthing else, no clue what yet.

I suggest if ur going to mix a pali an a fighter, go 11/3 , the only reason is it frees up a slot for a immune to fear item, aka ring or helm slot. Also it allows to get fighters armour mastery 3 an the first pali aura enchanment. Let alone makes u immune to desiese as well :) Have fun these r great an fun builds :)

My opignion on immunies: Overrated, you have awesome saves, so why loose a feat, feats are precious!

From an AC only perspective the magic numbers are 3 7 and 11 for fighter/palladin

Both classes have enhancements to effectively up your AC by one at each of those levels. and they happen to add up to 14 any which way you slice it so you just choose among paladin abbilities and fighter feats, or which stat enhancements you want etc... Max dex also plays a roll but I think you are covered pretty well and can pick the spot you want to land on.

All the level breaks work pretty well but you want to stick wtih those three primes to maximize AC.
