- It would be nice if both armor and Weapons also had an "All" button. Weapons maybe could "all" simple, "all" martial, etc. The AH is Risia Especailly need this.

I agree with #3.... don't care one way or the other about #1....

#2 is a bit of a pickle for me... it would be nice to see who was selling the stuff... however it would also open up the door to getting slamemd with tells/mail:

Sell it to me cheaper!
That's a scam!
i'll trade you x for it!
Why won't you trade me?
etc
etc

Yeah nice as it would be able to slam people with tells asking for items cheaper or asking to trade, it would be REALLY annoying for everyone trying to sell stuff.

I would really like to be able to search by effect though, say, find all the gtr undead bane weapons or +6 con items on the AH with one quick search.

I would like a trading post added. Put items up and say what your looking for then when a person click your item in the trading post( same UI as the auction house with a few changes) they would see what you were looking for(so for example "looking for 1 hand smiter" or "looking for +2 int tome" or" anything thats around the value" and after reading that you could select any item(s) in your inventory. Then when the player who has the item(s) up for trade checks the trading post they could either accept(so the items appear in the mail) or decline.

This would work just like a second AH( or maybe even make them accessible from the same AH people) With the same thing as seeing the name of the person selling an item on AH so you could trade with them.

What about altering the AH to allow you to send a message to the poster without displaying his/her name. Simply an empty text area for the message and a SEND button.

You could send a message to them and if they want to respond they would have the name of the character that clicked on the AH button. They could either respond or ignore you depending on your message. :D

This way posters would still remain anonymous as long as they wish. I would say if they added this, then when posting an item, the character could choose whether or not they wish to accept messages regarding the posting. If they decline to accept messages, then the text box and SEND button would either not appear or would be inactive.

If they do give us an "All weapons" function as the OP suggests, I want to be able to filter out items I am not proficient with.

I am lazy and would like the exact AH selling fee clearly displayed when I am posting an auction.

Toons don't sell in the AH, the AH sells on behalf of toons and takes a cut. Why would the AH want to risk losing business to trades by connecting buyer and seller?

The auction house cannot allow people to communicate with each other, even semi-blind. The primary function of the auction house is not to facilitate item sales between players, it's to remove platinum from the economy; this is obvious given the 30% transaction fee.

If one player could directly contact another through the auction house, it becomes trivial for players to circumvent the transaction fee.

As much as one people slam WoW, that is one area that it totally craps all over DDO. The WoW AH is just plain good. The DDO (despite the recent changes) is still clunky and a pain in the ass to use (thank god we no longer need to look through 19 pages of "clothing", though).
