Since i have been getting private tell after private tell in game, and out of game on the forums; I have decided to make a post on this page.
ANY questions you have about sorcs and my build ( which is getting pretty popular), just ask on here.
This way everyone can read/see what they might want to know also.

ok... I get the insane UMD, more sp's, slighty better saves and hp's along with fascinate brings a lot of advantages.
Missing out on the highest level spell is tough for me though... Even if you argue that we can do without 7th level spells right now, what about 8th when they come out? What about 9th?
Eventually (19th level) you will have everything and your build will work out great but until then you be a full level cap raise behind everyone else.
I am strongly considering taking a level of bard myself but not until 19th or 20th level.

Agreed. Sure we can do without FoD or Disco Ball, but what about polor ray with the next cap, or meteor storm after that. All spells that a multiclass sorc will miss if Turbine keeps upping the levels 2 at a time.
That is enough for me to stay pure on a casting sorcerer. Although not that it really matters seeing as it take all of a few weeks to level a character to cap. You can always just...reroll.

Yeah, but i like the fact that i dont need anyone with me. Its being self sufficient. Heal scrolls without failure, granted when you get higher youll be able to also, but im talking about now. Im not worried abour polar ray, and meteor swarm. Why? Because im not wasteing 300 mana on a max/emp/ spell at 8th or 9th level. Good ole firewall at 85 mana tickin for 400 dmg plus still woks fine for me. Besides with wand/scroll mastery, and the high umd.... I can always get the scrolls, even for the new divine spells, and play with them.
Its all a matter of preference. I'm not hard up for one 7th level spell right now. I can live without it. And i ve lived without a 8th and 9th level spell right now, so i can wait longer to get it later...

Seriously guys, don't you have multiple casters?
Build it properly by starting as a bard so you get all the bonus skill points, then just suck it up and deal with the "lost level".
It makes a great backup cleric, and it's just fun to play when you get bored with your UBERMEGAFINGERBLASTER.

sorcerers playing cleric (regardless of how OMG***BBQUBER the UMD) is costly fun. Cost effective are wands but those can be used at 100% success without a bard level. What a bard level does is give you a better chance for your rez, heal scrolls, and other cleric scrolls... which are very very very expensive no matter how good you are at casting them.
Money comes easy but it goes fast too. If you don't pay attention or the group is not very good, you easily spend 10k plat on a single dungeon if you are the "screlic"
Not to mention a 110 hp heal is great on yourself... on the 400hp, 13 AC barbarian? A drop of water on a hot rock...

What are the benefits of picking a level of Bard over a level of Cleric? I have been thinking of s Sorcerer with a level of Cerlic, and wonder what makes picking Bard a better option?
Thanks for your insite!

Taking 1 level of Bard allows you to invest 1 full point into UMD each level. This way you can reach a base umd of 17 instead of 8.

It's not going to be 300 mana when we reach that level. With the changes to the metamagic system a level 9 spell that is both maximized and empowered will cost 90 SP. (50 base, +25 Maximize, +15 Empower)
I'm not advocating being single class, just pointing out that the SP cost will be much less when the new metamagic system comes out.

The point of 110 point heal is true and not.
I have mastery 4 which gives 154 point heals, and if the characters human, I hit for 184 point heals. On the barbarian? thats not tooo shabby. One heal scroll for almost 1/2 his hit points isnt bad.
But still if theyre not human 154 points is nothing to sneeze at either.

IMO you're better off actually POSTING the build, instead of just talking about it. just my opinion.

This thread is really strange.
Who are you OP?
What build are you talking about?
Why wouldnt you just post the build?
Whats with the drama that is just dripping from this thread?
Its all very strange.

oh please Aspenor... if he posts it, we will violate it without lube or reacharound. This way we give him the benefit of the doubt and just debate the viability of taking 1 level of bard.

Why not just go human and take SF:UMD as your bonus feat. With human versatility, and a little farming of the raid loot you can hit the upper 30's on your UMD.
Ryuuken (On Ghallanda) went that route, and he can play back up cleric just fine as a pure sorcerer. In fact our typical parties consist of 1 Cleric 4 Sorcerers and 1 Tank. The tank we bring along for entertainment...he is only 13 (age not level) and he tanked the reaver for us at level 8...lol
