You have resists .. you have Evasion .. no need for 2 Rogue levels and Rogue skills for soloing other than 1 level of Rogue for Open Lock and UMD.

I would add the second ROguue level just to add some more points into Open Lock.. You canhit everythng right now.. But it would be nice to have a few extra points... But true, the second rogue level would be optional... and certainly isnt included in the l14 plan.

I have been searching the boards for a solo character. I am almost exactly as the person requesting the solo build... founding member, left before favor, only an hour or so to play at a time, and that only about 2 times a week.

I was looking for a solo character. I like ranged, I like taking my time to sneak around. I like opening all the chests and side adventures...

Can this build solo most of the adventures in the game?

Most everyone else seems to say that Paladins are the best solo class.

Is ranger a better choice?

Edit: What is up with everyone taking exotic weapon: Khopesh

Actually I also have a question on this build. I've been using this build and just hit level 3 (first character to make it to the marketplace, yay!), so far so good and I've done a decent job soloing it. My question though, and excuse my newbishness, but why wait til level 5 to add the fighter class? It would seem to me that level 4 would make more sense to get the extra feats as soon as possible. Am I missing something?

And I agree, whats up with the Khopesh?

the upside of soloing as a pally is at 14 you can get deathward. as an 8 ranger so far, the best part of soloing, to me, is being able to kite like mad, and switch to twf for trashier mobs, or throw up a shield if you need some AC, and still be able to kill well.

anyways, i was kinda wondering about how melee (strength) oriented rangers do compared to fighters and barbarians at level 14. i'll keep leveling my guy either way, but i am curious as to how they compare with like items.

I'd say you can really put the fighter level where ever you'd like it. The level 9 fighter level is important to get IC: Slashing ASAP, but the other can float.

And Khopeshs are the highest burst DPS in the game right now. They're 1d8, 19-20/x3 crit, which is a range that doesn't exist in core PnP. With IC: Slashing, that's 17-20/x3, and in DDO, there are a lot more ways to confirm crits and increase your threat range, so that x3 becomes really important, not to mention all the "on a critical hit..." effects.

It's the best general purpose 1-h weapon out there.

If you're an elf or a pally (or elf pally), Longswords may be better, if you're a dwarf, axes. But for one feat, it's a huge boost in DPS.

IF you can find some decent ones.

A really good kopesh is hard to find. A variety to fit various situations is even more difficult.

Wow, forgot about this build......

I like ranger for Soloists becauseo f their vast flexibility. Especialy when ya throw the Fighter and Rogue levels in there, theres nothing they cant use or do for the most part.

Fighter is Taken at l5 because Spring attack requires a BAB of +4. WIththe ROgue Level first, you'l only be at BAB of +3 at Level 4.

If your not going the Spring attack route, then FIghter could easilybe taken Earlier. Otherwise, take Kopesh as your L4 Fighter Feat and use your L6 Feat for Spring Attack...

Personally, I like having Spring attack early.... that -4 while moving is a huge penalty at low levels especially. and on a soloist build, your constantly moving.
