Least played class?

I am new, never played. What is the least played/needed class in DDO?

I would have to say bard is least played, most needed is cleric. At least if u look at the LFM (looking for more), everyone wants a cleric.

The class least played is not the class most needed.

Not sure exactly, but I would guess bard is the least played class.

Generally people will say Cleric is the "most needed" class.

If you want to make sure you are playing a character that will have an easy time finding groups, I'd suggest going with cleric, fighter, paladin, or barbarian.

Wizards and sorcerers will generally be able to find groups without too much trouble.

Rangers and Rogues will sometimes have problems as some group leaders consider them unnecessary for some missions.

I think bards are becoming more popular (and they should be, cause they are cool), but there are still people who think the best group is:

Least needed = /sigh....Rogue (Honestly, most traps can be bypassed via resists/high hp, or some kind of terrain exploit)
Most Needed = Like any MMO, Cleric.
Most under-rated = Ranger. People see ranger and think ranged. Rangers have the great option of doing ranged or melee. Sadly, most people still operate of the "ranged class" mentality.

The most "splashed" class in the game is Rogue. By splash, I mean taking 1 or 2 levels with your character for only UMD ranks and Evasion.

Best group setup, IMO, consists of

1 Cleric (Healing, of course!)
1 Sorcerer/Wizard/Bard (Buffs/CC and DPS if spec'd for it)
1 Rogue (Traps/DPS)
1-2 Ranger/Barbarian (DPS)
1-2 Fighter/Paladin (DPS/Tanking)

Sure, if you look at rogues as just trap disablers. They are quite useful outside of just picking locks and disabling traps.

It sounds like the question you are asking is "Which class should I play so I can get invited to groups the easiest?" Nothing wrong with that but I would say play the character class that you will enjoy playing the most. A lot of this depends on you, have you ever played any mmo before? If not then it's hard to tell what your play style is going to be. Read through the character descriptions and see what would be fun to play.

I say this because to answer your question I would say a cleric because people always need to be healed. However if you don't like it or are really bad at not healing other people they wont want to party with you anyway. Every class is good an needed, for someone just starting out and doesn't know the game I would stay away from ranger as they don't get groups as much. (to eveyone else reading this I have a ranger, don't shoot the messenger just advice to a new player)

True, but when you group with people like a cleric I grouped with in Invaders, its no wonder people feel Rogues are nothing but trap disablers.

I send this cleric a tell, I'll call him "Unabletothinkoutsidethebox"

So I send him a tell,"Hey, do you got room for myself (Rogue), and my fighter friend."

Unabletothinkoutsidethebox responds,"Sure, but we really don't need a Rogue for Invaders. There is nothing for a Rogue to do."

5 minutes into the quest, the cleric died and got rezz'd by the useless Rogue.

the friends that i've gotten to start the game i tell them not to make a rogue, ranger, or cleric for thier *first* toon because rogues and rangers run into bias (i have a lvl 14 ranger) and clerics tend to get pricy. I generally say go with pally, fighter cuz you get so many feats they're hard to **** up, or caster. might also want to avoid making a warforged as a *first* toon.

it breaks my heart though that their isn't more bard love :( they can be hard to play/build but just look one up and ask them about how they do it. i've got 6 bards. i love them. by far my favorite calss to play.

Bards may be the least used player which doesn't bother me, it just means my bard has no problem getting picked up for quest's:D I buff, heal, Crowd control, with decent UMD I can use almost any wand or scroll in the game and I can fight.

To the OP, Clerics are very good at low levels for both doing quests on your own and getting invited to groups readily. You can learn the basics of being a cleric pretty fast (IMO) and pick up info about the quests as you go along. Clerics are not a squishy class, but can fight darn well and have the spells to make it so.

Least needed = that's a complicated question...played well any class can contribute well in any instance

Easist to play for a new person is paladin because they're sturdy (good armor, good saves, good hps), can melee well, can solo well, and are cheap to play (especially early on).

They are in my best group, I just lump them together with the Barbarian since I consider both DPS.
