Robin Hood: An Elf archer build by request. {Edit: the build that should have been called the Legolas build}

Purpose: To achieve the maximum dps possible for a ranged combatant but with added trapsmithing skills

Race: Elf (32 points)
11 Ranger/2 fighter/1 Rogue
Str 14 (6 points) (+5 item = 18)
dex 18 (14 points +3 level +2 Elf +3 enhancements +5 item) =32
Con 14 (8 points)
Intel 14 (6 points)
Wis 08 [you will need a plus 6 wisdom item, which is not difficult]
Char 08

Feats:
1: Dodge
2: Fighter bonus feat: Weapon finesse (option of wf ranged)
3: Point blank shot
6: Mobility
9: Fighter bonus feat: Improved critical pierce (Option of power critical ranged)
9: Shot on the Run
12: Improved critical Ranged

Required Enhancements:
Elf Longsword/rapier attack I and II
Elf Longsword/rapier damage I and II
Elf enchantment save line
Elf dexterity line
Ranger dexterity line
Elf Bow attack I and II
Elf Bow Damage I and II
Rogue action boost I
Disable Device I
Open Lock I

Skillz: Max ranks in DD, UMD, Search, Spot, {edit: max OL}, Jump

Attack
+13 bab
+11 dexterity
+2 Elf
+3 Deneath Arrows
+29 total
(+4 shot on the run vs most other archers)

Damage non crit

3.5 base (1d6)
+3 Deneath Arrows
+ 6 Bow strength
+7 Holy (2d6) [from silver bow]
19.5 total non crit

damage critical
9.5 base (1d6x3) [yes, times 3 if silver bow]
+9 weapon (3x3)
+ 12 strength (6x2)
+7 Holy (2d6)
37.5 total average critical

rounding numbers for math and using silver bow, keen:
So 80% x 20 = 16 plus 20% critting 38 (7.6) = 23.6 x2 attacks = 47 average damage per round (during the multishot timer)

I want you to understand, though that this same build, if dual wielding two holy rapiers of pure good will be scoring over 200 per round average damage

Regarding Trap skills: you will be able to open any lock and disable any trap. Spot skills will suffer though. If you walk into a trap you will make your evasion so this is a mute point. When you take fighter rangers spend 2 points each into search and dd.

How to adapt to permadeath play: take fighter levels at 3 and 4 for early as possible sotr. Take wf at 6.

But I only have 28 points!: That will come at the expense of your con. A ranged support bot doesnt need con so much. You will be poisoned less and take less hits.

How not to play this build: run around in circles with the tanks running around in circles chasing the mobs that are chasing u. (this is higly amusing, because if they would just stand still the mobs would kit to them).

How to play sotr: learn to run backwards to the tanks, kiting the mobs to them. Do not take hits when using a bow. you are at -4 ac this is very bad. Instead take the sword and board out when melee is inevitable.

Regarding Max archer dps claim:
Now any ranged build out there that says: oh yeah! well going 2 ranger x fighter i can get this ... still cannot get the 200 plus damage dual wielding rapiers. So this is the max damage archer build in the game. [well the Retribution ranger is]

Bein picky here, but Robin Hood was a human. Elves don't exist in King Richard's England.

maybe gnomes and leprechauns, but not elves.

If you add in trapsmithing to a ranged type build, Ranger levels have huge advanges due to the extra skillpoints over Fighter levels. Plus Search is a Class Skill, which is huge.

Few things to point out

Fighters can also use Rapiers. In fact, the Fighter STR enhancement line would pull the Fighter ahead. Remember, Elf/Drow Melee enhancements arent class Specific - my Battle Cleric has them too. All of the enhancements can be taken on ANY Elf.
Definitely fit in Rogue Haste Boost. This is one of the best ABs in the game, especially combined with Manyshot.
Fit in Sneak Attack Training. It is so good.
This is definitely not "the best" ranged DPS, though it is close. More STR would be more DPS, though personally Id rather have the Rogue skills and not invite a Rogue. Hard to fit STR and INT on the build, so its definitely a build choice, and will also depend on your gear.

Id say this is better overall than a 12/2/2 archer build, but the 12/2/2 will definitely do more damage.

I agree with most of your points but a fighter based archer simply could not afford the two weapon fighting line and all the archer feats it would need. Plus it would lose out on perks like summoned pets.

Spiff - Are you SURE you made a 32pt elf? I got a 14/19/11/14/9/9 build split going on in Rons Character Generator.

Lol sorry I guess with these builds on requests over lunchtime there will be errors but hey thats 3 more points to spend! I edited it to reflect the change. The error was d/t cheaper dex buy for elves. Nice improvement in hp. Althernatively take one point from strength and one from con and put into wisdom so that you will only need a +4 wisdom item.
