If they pack in the amount of stuff the said they were going to it should be good. I will miss having a psychical mag in my hands, but again if they do it right it could really make the magazine better. Plus I believe it is part of the $10.00 a month insider tools?

I've gotten more excited about the 4e and Insider of the last week. At least half a dozen people I know are interested in coming back to dnd because of this.

The death of Dragon and Dungeon Magazines is really sad to me. Nothing can replace getting a magazine like this in the mail. It was always exciting to come home from work and have a Dungeon magazine peaking out of my mailbox.

**** you Wizards of the Coast!

I'm really not surprised. Those magazines where run at a cost to WoTC. Magazines only survive from advertising revenue, and seriously the cost to advertise in those is limited to game companies.

It's sad, because I love Dragon Magazine. I will miss the cartoons.

:( Too bad... I still have my collection and love to go back and read them once in awhile. I don't play PnP anymore, but enjoy the nostalgia of the old articles and the memories of games and groups gone by. The artwork on the 50's to early 100's issues was fantastic. They were using alot of original art back then that was of incredible quality.

Some of my favorites (I could list almost all of them in that range)

I think it had more to do with Piazo doing a real good job and Wizards did not want to compete. Cause they would have lost.

QFT.

They wanted the Dungeon and Dragon name back so they could hopefully lure the subscribers to their new D&D Insider.

Also, it looks like the online stuff like the character builder, etc will only be available as long as you pay a monthly fee to Wizards. That will stink if I can't download it to my computer and use it offline and will lose all my characters if I stop subscribing.

I am P&P player from way back.
(at risk of dating myself)
I have see the original version in all of it's glory.
In fact, my current D.M actual has copies of "Chainmail" squirrled away somehwere.
*secretly hides AARP card*
I only mention this so you know where I am coming from.

To see the untimely demise of both Dragon Magazine and Dungeon.
Is deeply saddening. I used to love both magazines.
As a hobby I love painting minitures for use in game, and I have lost track over the years of the OUTSTANDING painting tips that I have gotten from Dragon magazine.
I will miss the ready advice. And the examples and Painting Ideas

I also love the stories they used to have, along with the Comic strips and etc.

Dungeon was amazing! I miss that old rag.

Dragon I gave up on back when 2nd Edition came out. I still have old tattered copies going back to issue 40 or so.. (I started playing in '82, when I was 11) somewhere in a closet...

It'll be online now - we'll have to see how it goes.

I'll miss the paper mag. But as a freelancer, I'm pretty excited about the idea of digital downloads of new 4e stuff. If you can get in early....

Where can you find the online version of the magazine? I never read it before. If there is an online version I would like to take a look at it.

I would also like to say that the Paper Mags had Great modules in them.
More than once if we needed a Module to run you could pull out an issue
of Dragon, or Dungeon and Whammo! You have a totaly cool Mod. ready to go.

I will Say that the web Site also has some cool modules on there as well.
In fact I actually used one for a campaign I was running.

I hope the online version carries on the Tradition.

I will admit that Dragon was run really well by Paizo, but Dungeon is another matter. That may not be entirely Paizo's fault, however. The page count and number of adventures in Dungeon steadily dwindled down. I stopped buying the magazine when it hit two full-length adventures. Not to mention that short lived fiasco with the extra magazine stuck on the backside of Dungeon whose content was truly subpar most of the time. I had been worrying for a long time that Dungeon was dying. I remember back in the days when it was black and white on bond paper rather than that slick, color clay paper magazines use. Man, talk about page count.
