View Full Version : Hearing Impaired
Are there any folks out here guilded or not, that play without voice chat ? It seems that to many folks always want voice chat enabled, but what does it matter if it cant be heard ?
Sadly it's easy to find oneself doing the solo-only road mostly due to this. The game can be and often is enjoyable enough solo, but at times its so much easier with a group.
I just find that if voice chat is not enabled, to many folks simply refuse to type and get a bit ... antsy when i've stated many times that VC does no good.
Well, thanks for the ability to rant and get that out there.

voice lets you talk and hear others
that is why people want it on
if you cant hear/talk due to RL reasons you should prolly let people know, and people will respect it or not

Agreed. Its not your fault if you are mute/deaf, and people should respect other's differences. I, myself, dont use a mic, but because of that, im a better typer every day lmao

I've run with hearing impaired people before, and have no problems with it whatsoever. Just let me know. That way, if I forget and something happens, its MY fault, and I get to feel like a jackarse. Would be happy to run with you whenever.

Excuses I except For not Having Voice Enabled .
Deaf: If you can not hear- well then Duh it makes sense not to have it on and for all of us to respect that and type.
I have no Head Phones and Wife/Husband/Child is sleeping- I will mention that Headphones are really really really really cheap and you should get a set but for now I will type.
My Headphones are broken and I have not got a set yet - Ok.. I will type but don't make this a habit :-p.
What I will not except and ****es me off.
I do not have a Mic...- I don't care if you don't have a Mic, go ahead and type as much as you want. Just turn on Voice enabled so you can hear me and I do not have to type...
That is all. have fun!!.. And if you have a good excuse.. just tell them most will respect it.

I don't remember the name of the player(s), but I've run with a few people here on G who are in the same boat. As was mentioned before, the person (or sometimes a freind in the group) lets everyone know that SoandSo can't hear/is hard of hearing, and please be sure to type any communications. It does not stop the rest of us from talking, but we would always type the important stuff, or the stuff pertaining to that person. Never seemed to be a problem for the groups, or the efficiency.
Don't be afraid to just let everyone know. You won't get grief for it, and it isn't as uncommon as you think.

Same here. I have no issue running with folks that dont have voice on. Look for anyone in maelstrom and we will always be willing to take on people regardless of their "issues" that other people might not be happy with.
I make gimped characters. And I roleplay like a little girl. But they still group with me.
