Setting up a dwarven barb. Thinking chaotic good so I can use maelstrom early on and holy weapons later. Is this a good idea?

Chaotic good or True neutral.
Both have pros/cons.
True Neutral:
Pros:
+Imune to unholy, axiomatic and anarchic, great for PvP
+Many archers in PvM use unholy arrows, imune to them too
+Can use holy, anarchic and axiomatic with no negative levels, this includes the nice low lvl wep maelstrom and also tainted evil items like queen armor
+Stability (very minor bonus, but its on a commonly used barb item, Ring of balance)
Cons:
-Cannot use pure good or true chaos weapons
-Cannot Raise dead (xcept rather expensive cakes)
Chaotic Good:
+CAN RAISE DEAD OMFG!!!!1 (this is really unfair to true neutral imo, tho note the item needed is semi-rare and very difficult to trade for)
+Can use pure good and true chaos weapons (nice if you have some uber ones)
+Can use holy and anarchic
Cons:
-Vulnerable to Axiomatic and Unholy
-Negative level for use axiomatic weapons (also notably the queen armor)
-No stability

Why wouldn't true nuetral be able to raise dead?
My clr is True Nuetral, so I don't think that is correct.
Also, forget the cakes get a ring of the ancestors or umd to 16+ and you can use scrolls to raise dead.

Note the forum - Barbarian. Note the topic : Setting up a dwarven barb.
Noted? Good. Your cleric is irelevant.
Ring of the Ancestor is Good only, No UMD check allowed.
16+ UMD is not possible on a pure dwarven barbarian. Least not a good one. Would heavily gimp any non-human one, and semi gimp a human one,, just to give him a 1 in 20 shot at rez (rather expensive 20 scrolls for 1 rez)
If your planing like a barbarian/rogue multi tho, that is a good way to go.

I was simply saying that True Nuetral has nothing to do with raise dead.
I wouldn't worry about raising dead that much as Barb, no one will expect you to be able to anyway (but it could be a nice addition to a party)
I would recommend chaotic good with a barb.
Why...
1) You can use pure good weapons. (Holy/elemental burst of pure good is a nice combo on any weapon)
2) You can use the iron mannicles from Deleras. (+4 prot bracers)
Yeah putting charisma and umd on a barb may not be a viable option, but the raise dead ring is common enough. Just run the heck out of slavers of shrieking mines and you'll get one (eventually).
I would also like to recommend the following...
Do not multi class (pure barbs are brutal at L14)
Max out the str to start and put all of your level points in str.
Start with a minimum base int, wis, char at 9 (put a +1 tome on these stats before your first level) Odd numbers because +1 tomes are common and tomes work like base multipliers when leveling. These stats are less important for your barb, but they do have value as you level and for saves and skills. (Int skill points, Wis will save, and Char intimidate)
I would get all 6 +1 tomes ready for your new build. (minimum a +1 int tome)
Assuming a 32 point, you might want to start like this on your dwarf.
str 18 (+3 lev stats, +1 (or +3 str tome), +6 str item) 28/30 unraged str
dex 14 (+6 item, +2 tome (luck)) 22 dex, use a +5 mith fp or delvin suit
con 15 (+3 enhancement, +2 tome (1750 favor), +6 item) 26 con
int 9 (+1 int tome at l1) 10
wis 9 (+1 wis tome at l1) 10
char 9 (+1 char tome at l1) 10
Or you could go with a 7 char and an 11 wis (for +1 more to will save) or 11 int (for +1 more skill point per level).
I think dwarves have an enhancement for con also, but I cannot remeber if it is +1 or +2, so you may be able to get your con to 28 instead of 26.

Was hoping chaotic good would be the way to go. Have a +2 anarchic greatclub of greater construct bane waiting. :D
Had the holy and pure good crossed in my head, thanks for the clear-up. Gonna be doing max strength, little bit of dex, rest all con. I like the hp.

Neutral gets you both of those no prob. It's the true chaos/pure good that being CG gets you. I can't think of any chaotic only items except those bracers from Delara's.

Neutral Good is the go! :)
*Can use Holy, Anarchic, Axiomatic and Pure Good weapons.
*Can use the Raise Dead Ring ('Good' alignment required)
*Imune to Axiomatic and Anarchic damages.
