Hi all!!
It has not been a long time since i started playing this game. And now i want to start with a Sorc but i have my doubts about it, since i dun actually know the spells recomended for her.
And i still dun know what u mean when u say that u can make a 32 point toon. How can u achive that?
or that u have rerolled them. Is that possible at some instance of the game?
Any tip u can give me on this topic it will be more than welcome.
Thx in Advance :)

Hi all!!
It has not been a long time since i started playing this game. And now i want to start with a Sorc but i have my doubts about it, since i dun actually know the spells recomended for her. Try playing a Wizard first. Full access to all spells means you can learn which to use. Then make a Sorc with those limited spells.
And i still dun know what u mean when u say that u can make a 32 point toon. How can u achive that? Earn 1750 total Favor to unlock 32 point builds. Drow earned at 400 Favor are roughly equal to 32 point builds for any class that relies on DEX, INT, or CHA because of the attribute bonuses.
or that u have rerolled them. Is that possible at some instance of the game? Reroll just means you made a big, irreparable mistake somewhere in your build and needed to start over. Send your gear to a 2nd char, Delete character, recreate original character.

First off, a sorc is a little more difficult to build well, becuase they are not as versatile as a Wizard, however they both have benefits and bad points which I will briefly state.
Sorcerers: Get more mana per level (based on your CHA score)
Wizards: Get slightly less mana per level (based on your INT score)
Sorcerers: Get new spell levels at even levels (level 4, 6, 8, etc)
Wizards: Get new spell levels at odd levels (level 3, 5, 7, etc)
This means at end game, level 14, wizards can have 3 level 7 spells and sorcerers only get 2 level 7 spells.
Sorcerers: Cast faster than wizards
Wizards: Cast at a slower rate
Sorcerers: Can only learn new spells when they level, you choose what you get and thats all you get.
Wizards: Can change their spells around as they wish, and can scribe any arcane scroll in the game.
Sorcerers can exchange spells once every 3 days for a price. So you are not left with only the spells you choose when you level, its just slow to change them.
Sorcerers: Can use any arcane wand or scroll (these items are not used any faster)
Wizards: Can use any arcane wand or scroll
For my sorc, I am building her with certain spells as she levels up, but when I hit level 12 I will be redoing all her spells to what I want her to actually have. This allows her to be a little more versatile at lower levels.
For 1750 favor, the answer is pretty straight forward as stated above. For further information, all players start out as 28 point builds. The points are how many points you get to assign to your stats when you create your character. Also when you reach 1750 favor you also get a +2 stat tome of your choice, which also helps. However once a 28 point character is made it can never be converted into a 32 point build. Once you hit 1750 favor, all new characters created after that point are automatically 32 point builds. You can delete the 28 point build that got 1750 favor though and still retain the ability to make 32 point characters, which allows you to recreate that character (reroll it and start all over as 32 point if you wish). Although you only need one character ti hit 1750 to get 32 point builds, any other character that also hits 1750 favor will also get a +2 stat tome of your choice.
For rerolling it is common. As stated above many reroll when they are able to make 32 point characters. It just makes your character a little stronger. People reroll for many reasons though. They built the character wrong, or wish to go in a different direction than they went, etc. Aside from placing stat points incorrectly at creation or choosing to multiclass into the wrong classes, or putting skill points in the wrong places, you can correct other problems without rerolling. Also, so people get bored being capped out at the maximum level and simply reroll to start over.

Personally, for sorceror I'd rather have a 20 CHA to start from drow than an 18 CHA and 32 pts to spend.

And thx u too Blakbyrd!!
Now i know the actual diferences between classes, i tot that there were only the spells and sp diferences.
Hope to achive to 1750+ favor soon the and start rolling 32 point based chars. It is a pitty to not knowing this since day one, so one could plan things ahead. But know i can point in a much better direction than b4.
I was eager to create new toons in order to esperiment the diferent classes. But seems much better to stick with one till u reach 1750+ favor and then start with the others so u can have more complete builds.

No. Drow are the only race you can't apply 32 points to at creation. The reasoning is because they already start with +2 to DEX, INT, and CHA with only a -2 to CON. No other race currently in the game starts with as many +s to initial stats.

Klattuu is my first character and is a Sorcerer so I was exactly in the same boat as you are now.
I picked the Human Sorcerer because they are the most simplistic of the Magic Users to set up but ae extremely powerful.
The thing that I have learned about the Sorcerer is they are all about Charisma. Every other attribute is secondary. At EVERY opportunity you have to push up Charisma, take it. The aspect of the Sorcerer being a weapon user works for the first couple of levels but that very quickly goes by the wayside. If I had to do it over again, I would sacrifice a bit of Strength to build up my minimal Intelligence but not change much else.
At least today you have the option to change spells that don't work out for you. When Klattuu was built, I was stuck with Mage Armor taking up a slot for the longest time. Beyond that, Magic Missile is pretty much a staple spell for a first level mage which I highly recommend.
Dont bother with 1750 favor just get 400 and make your sorcerer a drow can have a 20 cha then get that character to 1750 favor for the +2 tome(+1 and +2 tomes dont stack you get the higher one) oh dont ignore your con score hp are more important then ac even more so at higher levels and many things can damage your con you hit 0 con you die.

Cap Charisma. Put the rest in Con. Your first spell should be niac's and hypnotize so you can make instance running alot easier for your team at lower levels. Eventually you'll swap these out when you hit the higher levels. Everything else is just trial and error. If you get a spell and it is the suxxor then swap it out for something else. It's only money, and you won't be spending it on anything else anyway.
Most important gear you'll ever need, until the very higher levels, would be a one handed potency weapon (the higher the number the better). Shoot for a potency III or IV to start with. Very cheap and they're all over the auction houses. And finally try to get yourself a Charisma item. Shoot for a +2 to start out with. Get a higher one whenever you can, no real rush. Don't be spending all your money on gear upgrades, casters don't rely so heavily on weapons and armor as all the other classes do.
I PERSONALLY recommend putting every stat point you get into charisma. Higher charisma = more mana and higher DC's for your spells. And investing as many points as you can into charisma enhancements. Again, just my opinion though.
Being a sorcerror, like being a cleric or especially a bard, is a calling. Everyone loves to play the melee's. High kill counts = very healthy ego's. But when playing a caster you have to be patient and learn when to step in and wipe the floor with everything and when to just chill and let your team do all the work.
If you're patient, you'll love it. If you're not... go play a barb and leave the real gaming to the rest of us.

If you do build a sorc, my experience will say that you will eventually end up swapping out a few spells as you progress later on.
The reason being that at certain levels (during your progression) you will find use for some spells that you normally would not need or carry around. For example, up until level 5-6 you may have a desire to use certain level 2 spell(s) that are useful for most things, yet around level 6 you may start doing Delera's or House K quests, which are largely undead, and you may find yourself being of little use without Halt Undead (which would have been useless prior to that for the most part). SO you may find you need to swap out a level 2 to be more useful for more undead stuff for awhile. After level 8-9 you may find you dont need Halt Undead anymore, as it rarely works much on elite quests, and you start doing fewer undead quests for awhile and will want a more useful level 2 spell to fill that spot. As you reach level 12 you may start to find that you will know what spells you want to keep from then on and may start swapping out other spells as you can to fulfill your final design needs for the end game. Luckily you can swap the spells out, just you can only do 1 every 3 days (the cost isnt that expensive though). So get an understanding of what you want to do with your sorc to start, it will help alot in the long run.
You dont have to play a wiz to learn all the spells though, you can still play with wands and scrolls to help you figure out what you like, however with wands and scroll the spells wont be nearly as effective than if you cast them yourself (keep that in mind) :)
