I was wondering if you higher level Barbs can give me your thoughts. Which enhancements do you prefer, the DR boosts or the Passive DR. Assuming you had to take only one line which would it be and why?

Boost.

Passive gives you +2, active +10. (vs natural dr)

More is better.

personally i'd rather have a constant 7DR vs a situational 10DR

that's just me though

I prefer the 6 APs on the +2 to static DR. A good case can be made for either, though. For me it's just one less thing to remember to activate.

Boost is very powerful in my opinion...

I use it before every big fight, and it really helps (I can tell the difference when I've used them all up and have to go into big fights without it).

Think about getting mobbed by 5 or so critters at once... If each hit is reduced by 15 DR, that's some serious hp savings... Using DR boost, I'll come out of a big fight 100 hps down... Not enough to worry the cleric, and I'll heal myself up... Without the boost, it may have been 250 hps down, and the cleric had to throw a heal my way...

I like the fact that I don't require healing when using my DR boosts... And I know they work, because I usually DO need healing when I don't use them..

It's especially useful when charging archers at a distance... Allows me to get to them without taking any damage at all...

FYI - it's really a comparison between a constant 7 DR (for a cost of 6 APs) and a constant 5 DR PLUS a situational 15 DR (for a cost of 10 APs)

Or to compare with equal AP costs...

7 constant DR (6 APs)

vs.

5 constant DR
12 situational DR (6 APs)

I have a level 10 permadeath Paladin who spent every feat on Added Damage Reduction after Adamantine Body Armor. Lot's of things contribute to his staying power but the standing DR is one of the nicest. If I make it to twelve it will be a tough choice between more DR and Extend Spell.
