View Full Version : Venturing Virgins Persistent Role Play Group

I am looking to form a persistent role play group of up to six people although if we ever get more we can split the group into two where required. The session would start at 7:30pm Server Time (EDT I believe) on Friday’s. This is to accommodate players in the Australian area since the starting time would therefore be 9am (Adelaide/Darwin) or 9:30 Australian Eastern Standard on Saturday mornings.

The starting level would be level 1 and you are welcome to do the solo-only quests in the Aspirant’s Corner. The group would begin in the Wavecrest Inn.

I very much have no problem helping newcomers to Dungeons and Dragons Online or to role playing in general, infact I would like to see some fresh blood out there now and then.

The group would pretty much follow the same rules you see around with other dedicated groups:

#1: Have fun!

#2: Voice is not required since we are here to role play and that happens through typing and not voice.

#3: No rushing since we will want to explore as if we had never entered the quest ever before.

#4: No gaining gifts, items or money, from characters not within the group.

#5: No using the auction house yet the brokers are fine as long as the character has followed rule #4.

#6: As with #4 and #5, the group is to be a persistent group and hence will be to share loot found between the members where someone else may use the item better than you; sharing makes the group stronger as a whole.

#7: The group will be light to heavy role play depending how we are feeling and Out of Character comments are to be done within (( )) brackets.

#8: Players are allowed to play a character as they see fit as maturity is the key to a persistent group.

If you have any inquiries, feel free to private message me and I will get back to you as quick as I can :)

Our current character listing is as follows:

Current Characters
Yyelana – 2nd Level Elf Cleric
Ivress – 2nd Level Drow Rogue
Fyonna - 2nd Level Warforged Wizard
Dharketh - 2nd Level Warforged Paladin
Kendill - 2nd Level Human Fighter
Modoken - 2nd Level Drow Bard

---------------------------------

A tall, slender female elf steps off the Prowling Lion, a fine seafaring vessel of elven make as it docks into Stormreach’s harbor. Her attire is neither rich nor poor as she walks down the plank in a white robe with faint embroidery, nothing like the mageweave material which only the rich adorn their clothings in.

Her feet have plain sandles on as she could be of a poor lineage; yet when one looks to the ship she has stepped off this is bound to not be true. Then the answer would definitely be that it is her own choice as to why she is wearing this footwear and not something sturdier to protect her feet.

The more stunning feature is the tattoo over one side of her face, not of any tribal black inks yet of a vibrant blend of colours.

Without a look others around her, this female walks towards the nearest tavern, the Wavecrest Inn, with a servant behind her who is carrying her three bags of belongings.

Immediately, she looks to Sigmund as she enters the Inn and gives him a look. “I wish to procure a room, indefinitely, and I am sure you will be well paid.”

“Yes, yes, of course milady. I’ll have one of my staff fix up a room for you.” Sigmund refrains from asking why the elf had come here for the money she placed on the table was definitely well worth her stay for a month or two from the word go.

With her servant behind her and the Inn staff member before her, Yyelana heads up and stops before her room. “Now, young girl,” Yyelana shows a small smile to the human woman before her who has led her up to her room with a touch of curiosity on her tongue. “You would know of the rumors and tales that come and go within this tavern, do you not?”

“Aye, I would but…” Before the woman could finish, Yyelana, the elf, placed a gold coin in her hand. “Come into my chamber and tell me of them. I will need to know all you know for I am in search of a lost item and others will need to assist me in my travels if I am ever to find it.”

Some time later…

The young woman whom the elf had talked to in her chamber comes back down and whispers into Sigmund’s ear. He nods and whispers back. “If she pays, we will accommodate in her quest while she is a guest here. While you are serving drinks, listen to the others and report back to me. Maybe I myself will pin up some notes on the board to find a few people around this harbor. There is bound to be someone nearby.”

From a dark corner of the tavern, the scene is watched by deep red eyes. A calculating, shrewd look crosses the features of the drow observer, tallying the wealth apparent in the newcomer's attitude. Somebody with a quest, it seemed, who sought assistance...

As she absently twirls the knife from the table, Ivress decides that she would like a part of that wealth. If that meant becoming a part of the quest too, then ... well, questing always held additional rewards. A win-win situation, she thinks to herself.

((Depending how many aussies show their hands, we can make the time more Aussie friendly than a merger of the World vs Australia to try and make everyone happy.))

I would love to be part of this, but can only do every other week. Not what your looking for I am sure. But, if there are others out there who work rotating schedules and want to do this...you never know.

Agreed. If people are fine with every second week, we can do that :D We'll see what the consensus states and I'll update our list once you know a name/class for the character :)

Worse comes to worse though, we can do the group weekly and you can just do fortnight if you want. We could see how that goes treating those who wish for fortnightly in the experience department. Again, if numbers have more fortnightly people, we can go in that direction.

If you know anyone who would be in for this, fortnightly even, then feel free to mention this to them!

((First session went far better than planned. We have a full group but if we have enough interest, we can start up a second party when numbers are greater than 6 people.

We also have a guild set up now for Out of Character talking which is thusly called Venturing Virgins.

Next session is Friday 17th August.

Many, MANY thanks to those who came. It was a very fun few quests!))

Sorry to say this guys but I won't be at next weekend's session. Sudden change in plans, my PC pretty much just died. I knew it was coming but not this quick and I am not financially prepared for it. My CPU is overheating and in DDO I am freezing up, so I had to underclock her to make it so I can get into windows, period.

I'm hoping of getting some money back from someone I lent it to shortly or I'll have to resort to applying for a credit card. I don't foresee the computer before the next week though but I should have one by 2 to 3 weeks.

Ivress will be at the next weekend unless she says otherwise.

Scratch that, I am going to be there on Ivress's computer since she believes I should be there at the least :)

Quick note too, Thalion invited us to Dedicated Teams and I accepted as it would be an honor :) I will fix up the guild next time I am on yet it will not change anything else, just that we have the dedicated groups bundled together under the same roof.

((Unfortunately no session today. With only three of us around at the time and I didn't feel too well, we delayed the session to a definite next week. Although I don't know yet if I will be there or not, it will either be Ivress or myself unless a miracle happens and I get my PC before next weekend :P))

Yyelana didn't know why the Undying Court had chosen her yet she was privileged to be given this mission to find a specific artifact of the Aerenal society, once lost thousands of years before in this exotic land of Xen'drik.

Now though she found herself alone and away from her fellow adventurers as she hunted around the city for rumours, comments, anything that could be a lead...

((Sorry I wasn't around. PC still isn't here yet and depending how I go I may come in next Saturday but only for a brief bit of RP and no play on this broken box of mine.

Soonish I won't be around in DDO as much as I normally am but I've come to the decision that as much as I will jump over in to the Lord of the Rings Online crowd for heavy RP, I will be keeping my DDO account active and I will be coming every week for this session :) Anything else and I'll see..

I hope to see you all these next week! I know we lacked Dharketh and Fyonna yet we did manage to have a friendly guest which Marrra will be mentioning shortly))

"Well! What a disaster," Ivress complains as she sinks into one of the tavern chairs inside the Leaky Dinghy. "I am never, I repeat, never, advertising for assistance like that again. If Yyelana wants more help, then she can ask for it! I have rarely encountered such arrogance, incompetence and recklessness, and I hope to never experience it again."

Ivress sips at the barely tolerable tavern wine and looks to the guest seated at their table. "I mean no offence, Rackhar. You proved yourself more than capable and I would not be adverse to your company on another task. It was the other... " With a shudder, she falls silent again, too irate to even rant further.

((It was a slow start on Saturday with the lack of our 'leader' Yyelana and the notable absences of our two warforged companions. The group was then opened to PUG and it was, well let's just say it was an experience. Many thanks to Rackhar who joined us for some fun, and though unfortunately is unable to commit to something regular, is more than willing to join us as a guest should we need the extra numbers. You have our thanks.))

“You sound like you to drink like a dwarf, Ivress.” A female voice speaks behind her and as the group turns, an pale elf walks up to the group’s table. “So you would be Rackhar then? I am pleased to meet your acquaintance, young child.

“I do have one piece of advice, Ivress. If every piece of trash inside this city was a treasure in disguise, then we would be high up in Siberys, would we not? No, it is never this way. There is scum around all corners and disappointment should not ruin your days. Let your faith guide your feet and if drinking deep is what you do, feel free. Be happy and live on.

“And, I do apologise of my disappearance, I still have much to do and I do not know yet when my being a puppet will end and that I can come back into the light with my fine group.”

Marrra

Ivress snorts at Yyelana's comments. "If all this trash were treasure I would be rich and far away. And how can one drink deep in this port when the wine tastes like grape juice? I do hope the more affluent areas of the city have better supplies in their taverns."

Kicking a chair out slightly from the table toward Yyelana, Ivress returns her attention to fidgetting with a table knife. "Your return is much awaited, by myself at the least. I am not sure I like this 'leading' business. Feeling responsible for more than myself is not a situation I cherish."

"I am sure," she says as she takes a seat. "I apologise that I cannot be around of late. It is a touchy matter that I am unable to explain but I will be back when the time comes. Hopefully that time is soon." Yyelana orders a wine and sips at it, ignoring the cheap taste as she continues. "Now, how have you all been? I hope the travels have not been short and lost?"

((I am sorry I still can't be around. I came back to DDO when we got DSL back and 1 week after we got them both, my PC died.. so.. I was struck with bad luck there. My subscription runs out tomorrow and I won't revive it until the money is coming my way. Earliest I will reactivate is next week, so crossed fingers nonetheless. Have fun all!))

Modoken quickly scanned the bar and upon seeing Yyelana and Ivress sitting together he made straight for their table.

"I see that your keepers have let you out for the evening Yylelana." Modoken grabs a chair from another table and sits without invitation while ordering another round from the bar. "So, from the look on both of your faces I take it that you will not be joining us anytime soon. Well, I can tell you that Ivress is doing a good job as our interim leader, however, I do look forward to your return...if only so that I may concentrate on my martial abilities."

(( Man, talk about a string of bad luck. Well, look at it this way, you should have some good luck on the way. Will be looking forward to next time you can log on. ))

"No, I will not but I suspect you will all somehow.. hmm.. what is the human term? Brag about how you all faired even at the end of the rope when I do return? Hmm, I never really got what this 'brag' meant."

She sips again as she leans back, relaxed for that one moment, one moment of peace where they can't order her around.

For now.

OOC:
Unfortunately, due to financial strains, I won't be around for the next week. My subscription runs out today and we've decided to put off renewing it until we have more spare cash next week. So everyone make sure you have fun in game and I'll be there for the next session after I'm back, promise!

OOC: I'm sorry for letting you all down in this session but.. I hope to see you all not this coming Saturday but the one after. unfortunately my computer would be posted off today or maybe yesterday. So, I won't see the nice pretty box until Monday or Tuesday.

So, Yyelana will see you all next week! I hope we see Rowanheal (Fyonna) and her hubby next week if you guys are still out there? Helloooo? :)

I'm hoping to find some people who would like to take part in this session each Friday Night at 7:30pm Server Time. We currently have four people (Yyelana, Ivress, Kendill and Modoken) on a regular basis and I would like to see if we can get six people again.

Rowanheal, are you out there still? :) I'll throw you a PM now.

OOC: You have no idea.. After I got home, I plugged the new computer all in and guess what? Fried.. I didn't touch a thing but I am worried that I have to call the company who made the PC and who are about 500kms away whom I'd have to post the box back to.. Crossed fingers with the phone call in the morning.. otherwise I have a $972 AUD paper weight.. Not happy.. So, this goes without saying that renewing my DDO for another month is wasted and I have no idea when I can be back..

OOC: Those of you who know the success sound in Zelda (Da na na naaaa!) know that that is how I feel right now.. I'll see you all next session! I've made a new thread over at Player Coordination to catch everyone's attention, especially if you are not naturally a Sarlonan.

Venturing Virgins (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=121926)

We'll use that thread for RP and hooking people when needed. If you can't make a session too, try to post it there.
