I have a build in progress that is level 11. My current Dexterity is 21 with feats and equipment. I am using a +5 Mithril Chain Shirt, which is Max Dex 6, and a +5 Mithril Tower Shield which is Max Dex of 4. As I understand things, if I take Fighter Tower Shield Mastery 1, my AC should go up by 1. Once I get to dex 22 and take Tower Shield Mastery II, it should go up by another 2, 1 for filling our the mithril chain shirt, and another for filling out the TSM. However, when I took TSM I, my AC did not appear to change.

Does anyone know if this is one of those display bugs, or is it broken at the moment? I suppose that a third option is that I'm just confused and wasn't looking at things the right way...

Hmmm. Highlight over your AC in your character screen. What does it say your max dex bonus is?

Should be:

4 if it didnt work
5 if it did.

Fighters Tower Shield Mastery is working correctly. In case your confused here is the breakdown. If not, disreguard since you know it.

Ok your sitting with a +5 DEX Mod.

+5 Mithril Chain Shirt, which is Max Dex 6
+5 Mithril Tower Shield, which is Max Dex of 4

So you are getting a +4 DEX Bonus out of your shield and Armor at the current moment. To get to the +5 DEX MOD all you need to do is take the Following:

Fighters Tower Mastery 1

Once you reach 22 DEX with +6 MOD take the following:

Fighters Tower Shield Mastery 2

There *is* a display bug in character sheets, or in mine at any rate. If you watch your AC in your character sheet while changing shields, armor etc...it won't show the change immediately. You will have to close and reopen sheet or switch tabs then come back. Now you will see your correct AC.

Check whether or not you're burdened at all as well. If you're in a medium load (nigh on impossible for a fighter, but still) then you'll have a capped dex due to that. I don't think that's the problem, but it's always worth glancing at just in case.
