View Full Version : Well, I'm giving up on the class forums.
Since every thread that's been posted or replied to since 4/1 (aka every thread worth keeping around) is now nuked into oblivion...
I don't have backups of any of my builds anywhere, and from the people I've talked to, nobody else does either. I'm not up for redoing all that work, and if i did it wouldn't have the same result most likely. I've lost a lot of builds for which I put 4-10 hours into the design, and I know others like Grenfell have, too. Unless they are able to restore the lost posts, I'm afraid the class forums are just going to be abandoned.
*sigh*
Cya 'round, folks. Happy Rangering!

Meh, that's a shame. I thought they were working on restoring that stuff? Or was that only server forum threads they care about.

They mentioned something about getting the server forum threads back, but nothing about the class forums, and nothing about either since the fiasco hit on Monday.

Gol, it's really unfortunate that all your threads were lost and I REALLY hope turbine is doing the best they can to get them back. The only reason I made a ranger and the only reason I enjoy playing him is because he was based on all your advice :(

Well, the only one I can see myself reposting is the carbon copy of the build I play at level 14. I have 2 level 3 Rangers that I'm not touching until... well, who knows, I may just let them rot rather than try to redesign the builds from scratch. And I'm still to ****ed about the raid loot mechanic changes to care about leveling lowbies for a while.

Hate to see you leave Gol but that just gives others a reason to come up with their own builds and stop the carbon copy characters that we have on all the servers now.
Besides most of you guys can figure out your own builds if you actually use that gray matter between your ears, you don't need anyone else to show you how to create a character.
Then again after running with lots of people that have followed Gren and Gol's builds I might have to take that back because they did seem a little dense.

What are you taling about with respect to raid loot mechanic changes?

Read the weekly dev activities.
Everyone in the the raid has a 1/6th chance of getting a "raid" item. If you don't get it, you get a normal item. They're bind on pickup, but you can still trade them to other players by reassigning.

Take a look at this weeks dev updates. The new mechanics are described at the bottom of the page.

Being a relative noob - how is that different than the "old" system? Why would older players be upset about that change? I'm just curious because I don't have any high level char's, so I've never been on a raid to know how looting works on those.

People are upset because the old mechanic was 2 raid items guarenteed. So, people would short man raids with 4 or less people to get a better chance to get the raid items they wanted.
The new mechanic is each character has a 1/6 chance to get an item. No items are guarenteed. So, if you short man it now, there is a better then average chance that you will get no raid loot. This was done in an attempt to get people running larger raid groups again, so that 1/6 over 12 people should work out to about 2 raid items per run.
However, there is no more rolling, or talking about it before the group leader hands out the shards to get the loot. If it's in your chest, you can take it without having to consult anyone. I believe that this will make PUG raids almost disappear. Who's going to want to spend a ton of time in the raid only to have a PUGGER grab an item they can't even really use just because it's in THEIR chest?
Most people are pretty upset about the new changes.

Ya, I can understand being upset with that!
Sorry but another noob question - what are "PUG" raids?

"Pick Up Group" - i.e. random people, not a dedicated group.
I wonder if Gol will change his mind about leaving since the last straw just became a lot lighter.

Ah ok, some of the terms are still a little new to me. Thanks for the patience! :)
