I am curious how long you can continue collecting XP and not level to level 2

You can always keep collecting XP at level x until you reach the magic value (XP to reach level x+2) - 1.

I am curious why you want to keep collecting experience at level 1 without training level 2.

The first few levels each add a huge bonus to the character's survivability, and surviving the missions and completing them is what gains you levels. Even though there's no experience penalty for death at level 1, there's still the time penalty of healing in the inn and then running back to the mission.

The faster you complete the mission, the faster you get to level 3...


I've only heard two reasons for wanting to stay at a certain level, rather than train your next level, and the other one is wanting to help new players out, which would negate ever wanting to level, so you wouldn't ask this question.

If you have a new reason for wanting such a thing, please excuse my ignorance.


The specific answer to your question is 19,999 experience, by the way. Once you have 19,999, your first level character won't gain any more experience until you train level 2.

The reason to not level is to get more XP, faster.

If you have a group of lvl 1's that's fairly strong, you can get through qusets fairly easily. The XP bonus for being a level or two below the mission is nice.

Edit: 6 level 1's get's through most of the lvl 2 quests almost as quick as a bunch of lvl 2's, and well worth the bonus XP.
