How does this work? As far as the numbers?

Besides traps, when does a reflex save get rolled?

Your reflex save is a Saving Throw that details how well you are able to dodge special effect. If you were targeted by a fireball or being caught in a trap then you would roll a reflex save which is a d20+(reflex saving throw bonus) against a specific DC or difficulty class to see if you are able to withstand the effect.

A natural 1 on a saving throw is always a failure. A natural 20 is always a success. You add your base relflex save bonus to your dexterity modifer. Other effect like a paladin's Divine Grace or an item giving Restiance Bonus can raise your saving throws too. :)

Hope this helps.

Certain spells that have a chance of dodging, Lightning bolt, Fireball come to mind. Think of it like anything you can dodge like a gernade.
