Nice work on this post, here's a few more details to fill in:

All three Desert Slayer quests cap at 3000 kills. At 1500, the XP awarded is 13,630. At 3000, it is 27,990.

The complete list of Rare Encounters I have is:

Stinkpelt
Yurrugh the Swift
Den Mother Fheena
Lieutenant Ayurro
Commander Errulf
Haraja The Firedancer
Vorvand Darkfur
Utach Sandcrawl
Wokran-Kull
Volrune the Curate
Mendaxethazz
Thumok the Mad
Palumak the Scourer
General Tanakh
Whirling Ozann
The Thirsty One

I didn't do all the math, but I believe this makes the Desert worth almost the same total as the Gianthold Ruins.

updated.

the only piece of info i do not have for the current setup is the 1500 Slayer XP in Gianthold.
with that everything will be current.

if someone has that info, sooner than later would be appreciated as i will be on hiatus starting early september until december due to work constraints.

Has anyone thought about leveling a character solely through adventure areas? What quests are mandatory to run now, other than sully's grog? Conceptually you could get to lv11 without ever having run a quest... for some reason the thought amuses me.

Not quite need 200K to get to level 7 (min level on Ataraxia's Haven). Add all exp from adventure areas with lower min level then 7 you get 89,256K exp only.

max exp very top heavy. 75% of it comming just from desert and giant hold.

um, just wandering, but...are there any maps that tell where rare encounters/explorer points are? I really only ask cuz I need that Farmer and Brigand commander from the cerulean hills area to finish it.

Zenako
01-07-2008, 12:40 PM
The Brigand Commander is on the left middle side of the map as you enter it. It is up high in a cave in some cracks. Usually there are a few bugbear guards nearby outside. This cave will always about about a dozen very low level human ruffians in it and on occasion the Commander.

The Farmer is about as far from the quest entrance as you can get. As you enter it will be in the absolute farest down and farest to your right lobe on the map. There is a pool with a Shrine Post in it (and often some Cats lounging about). There is a cave near the back of the pool. The Farmer is located in that cave and he is frequently not there (it is often the last rare I hit on characters in the Hills.)

Thanks muchly, that will finding that cave back there was a pain in the neck, waterfall doesn't help much.

Any update of this for the Vale?

It seems that great minds think alike, or at least a lot like mine... lol

I have been working on a table version of this, and here's the link to it ...

http://achievebalance.com/ddo/adventureareas.htm

This may be easier to read for some people. I have relied on others for many of the numbers, as my characters are still working on getting that many kills!

Any update of this for the Vale?Nope. Conejo left the game (or at least the forums) last November.

I have updated the stats for the Vale ... thanks

I originally really liked the adventure areas, because many times when I log on, I only have about 30 minutes to do something. Quests with other players don't fit that (unless it's a Reaver run! lol) so I was locked out, so to speak.

The adventure areas allowed me to do stuff in those little time slots, which is really cool.

If you guys think I should start a new thread (I can't update his entry) I'll do so.

Well we got all of it on the wiki too.:D

Besides, no need to wait for someone to update it, anyone can contribute.:D

I do like the Wiki data, which does need updating as of March 4th,
and I like things in a table so I can see important numbers easily.

Like about 200k xp EACH in Desert, Gianthold and Orchard,
and if 5k not limit in Vale, about 380k XP there.

Also, no need to wait here either, (unless I'm on vacation!)
as I will get notified of replies to this email. I've been keeping
this table for over a year, and decided to not just offer it
to guildies anymore. Those not in our guild, nor on Thelanis,
also deserve access if they want it.

5000 in the vale is 49,100. i ran out of gas with 200 shavies to go. i'll try to hit it to see if it goes to 7500 like the orchard, but i've got a couple of lowbies to run over the next few days for some xp.

Thanks for that info, I have added it to the Vale column, you can see the whole thing at http://achievebalance.com/ddo/adventureareas.htm

Also, to make it easier for those that would benefit, I added a link at the bottom of the table to Dorim's Map Store, so that people can go directly from the table to maps of the area. I also added a link to the wiki site, since it does such a great job of listing all the rares.

I'll be glad to add other features as players think helpful.

I have been updating my table at:

http://achievebalance.com/ddo/adventureareas.htm

Now, both at the top and at the bottom, the names of the adventure areas are links to Dorim's Maps of those areas. He has the BEST maps available, and I now link directly to them.

My next step is to add the list of rares in each area, so that it is EASY to see the list and compare it to what your character has already done, so that you can find the names you still need without much effort.

At this point, I am not sure if the wiki names are in order (by that I mean if they are in the same order in which they appear on your quest list when you look at your rares) or not. If they are, I may just link to their lists.

I want the table to be easy to use to do in an adventure area whatever someone is trying to do. That means that a longer term project, is to add to each area, or maybe to Dorim's Maps, what unique treasure falls from which rare's chest.

Something like (under Sands of Menechtarum):
Bloodstone: Mephit Chest

This would help people know what chests to farm for particular items. Any feedback on that? Is it somewhere else and I just need to link to it? Let me know, and I'll gladly accept the help or the ideas or both!

Turns out, only the desert has any unique treasures hidden in it, the rest of the areas have nothing unique.

I have added a link to a chart that shows the rares in the order they are displayed in the quest log, so that you can easily check which rare you need to farm to get the item you want. I was going to do this for all areas, but only the desert needs one!

Check out the complete table at: http://achievebalance.com/ddo/adventureareas.htm

To see maps of any area, click the area name at top or bottom.
To see list of rares, click on area name in middle of table.

All of the above is finished as of March 28.

Enjoy and loot!

According to the Weekly Dev notes ...

Players above the quest level limit for slayer, explorer, and rare encounter quests can now advance these quests to completion, but will be receive reduced XP (XP Gained = XP For Goal / (Levels Over Cap + 1)). Any other players present in the area who are not above the quest level limit will not have their quests advanced. No change has been made for groups of players who are all within the min-max level range for an area. The spammy text alerts warning players their quest is not advancing have been replaced with static informational alerts.

This means that if you are above the limit, you can still reach the goals! (How many level 16's will be is Searing Heights getting revenge for being badly whooped when soloing as a level 6?)

Ok, back to what I was trying to say.

This means that if you are:

1 level above top limit, you get 1/2 the xp on goals reached.
2 levels above, you get 1/3 the xp.
3 levels above, 1/4
4 levels above, 1/5, etc.

However, you should not go out there with people within the limits, because they will get no benefit.

For example, if a bunch of level 16's go into the desert to farm for the bloodstone or spell storing ring, the numbers above apply. However, any 15's and below in the party, do not get their slayer advanced, nor xp for explorers, nor for rares.

I still think that finishing any one "total" in these areas should get favor points, it would be a way to move people toward these. Also, more unique treasure out there, as in the desert, would be nice for Gianthold and Vale.

Enjoy your adventuring!

I have added to the table, 3 barrel cove, and you can see that it is not complete, I confess. :(

However, I do know the following http://www.achievebalance.com/ddo/adventureareas.htm, which was learned on Risia over the Memorial Day weekend.

Level 3-8
13 rares, at 400 each plus 2.6k bonus = 7,800 xp

20 explorer, at 200 each plus 1k bonus = 5,000 xp

10 kills, 120 xp
25 kills, 215 xp
50 kills, 360 xp
100 kills, 655 xp
200 kills, 1,230 xp
400 kills, 2,400 xp
750 kills, 4,270 xp
1,500 kills, 9,325 xp and estimating it's the top tier.

I will add more as I get it. Have 6 of the rares, see link above and click "3 Barrel Cove" in middle to get the list. Figures are based on the data on Risia, and I hope it doesn't change when it goes live.

Hm, I have all the experience numbers in (I'm guessing, I confess) and almost half the rares, and there's nothing on the Wiki yet. Well, the people that update the Wiki are certainly welcome to my numbers and data. ;)

Ok, I will. I'm currently busy working on something. (Worked all night on a **** template!)
I'd love if anyone would do it for me. It's simple, you go on the right and press edit on top and add the data.

Otherwise, it'll have to wait a little.:)

EDIT: Or I'll wait until it goes live. ;)

Does http://achievebalance.com/ddo/adventureareas.htm have an update anywhere? Since I noticed that some of the values are off by a few hundred. Not sure how much exactly throughout them all.

Orchard on there for 750 has 7,420 while 750 on my log has 7,770.

Gianthold for 3000 I'm showing 31,195, site has 30,870 for 3000.

Thanks.

Daehawk, thanks for the info, I am working on updating that table, had not been to this thread for a while, and had been away from game a bit as well. Am back, and am working on it. Please post any updated info you have to the other thread, thanks!
