I'm just curious about what everyone thinks about my new idea for a mystic theruge build (the Mystic Theruge from pen and paper d&d) taking equal levels in wiz and clr, i know i should have done sor/clr but i just prefer wiz.
Any kind of feedback would be very helpful.

Equal levels of wiz/clr is actually pretty standard - you go mystic one level sooner than if you were a sorc. Just remeber that mystic thuerges suck in epic levels... but how many games ever get there? My old Thuerge is below.
Crowley, Dwarven Wiz3/Clr3/Thuerge10
STR 9
DEX 11
CON 14
INT 18
WIS 17
CHA 7
Obviously his BAB hardly mattered - couldnt fight to save his life, terrible AC, ugly as sin, but a spell-casting powerhouse. Actually rolled the stats using 4d6, reroll 1's, drop lowest, repeat 7x, drop lowest set. DM LHAO when he saw that - thought I'd be dead in week... not quite...

i have often thought about this combo, my only reservations come from lower spell d.c.'s because of having 2 caster stats that need to be as high as possible
I assume 7/7 split currently.... you would have a little of everything ...i would think in higher lvl content you would be doing alot of wand healing/haste/buffing
my thoughts of plus's
wizards offensive spells, haste, web, hyp.pattern
wizards defensive spells, blur/displace (u will probably have to wear robes unless you are drow and take the arcane spell failure enhancement and light or mith armor)
so blur+good robes+displacement=not terrible defense
clerics healing= you would be ok at healing and could probably make most scroll checks for raise dead...
i would think it would be hard until you hit higher levels because you would only start to get some decent casting ability when each class hits about lvl 5 each..so lvl 10 overall..
but I like different characters, we welcome different splits in our guild, but some people would think you were crazy..

Don't do an equal split.
Although splitting wiz-cleric is a bad idea in general, it will come off better if you at least do cleric9/wizard5. That'll get you both Raise Dead and Haste.

lol, i've already gotten the crazy thing.
altough i dont see the problem with doing a 7/7 split as long as i have plenty of scrolls, im not too crazy about raise dead any way, there are res shrines if you happen to die, but having cure and repair spells will help both wf and organic characters kinda like a hybrid healer.

Well in PnP my build was a Sorc/Cleric (4/3) then off to prestige land ... in DDO you lose all the high level spells in leu of some lower arcanes, or vice versa ...
I used Cha due to the crossover with Clerical powers that use charisma. Worked well for mass power over undead, even though you weakened your turning power by dual-classing. Add a few feats and viola ...
Lastly, my only viable build I can think of in DDO is my Drow Cleric, who started as L1 Sorc. Got the big SP pool (by taking max cha) then building all attr. pts after into Wis to compensate (and to get a good DC for you casting)
This allows you to:
Have every spell in the game on your "class list" - any wand in the game w/o UMD check. (killer with wand enhancements) - no worries of healing WF
Only one level behind a pure cleric for spell levels / penet.
Great boost to base SP - and a lil more from SP boost items
And lastly 2 castable arcane buffs: FF/Jump/Tumble, etc
Tried heighten meta .. no dice

well one of my toons is 7/7 wizzy/cleric, and is fun to play and slots in as an extra cleric or even as the only cleric pretty well. She can run the desert undead loot chests with ease firewalling undead, pk air elementals, haste, etc. Bad things: till they increase the level cap she is expensive (raise dead scrolls) when used as the sole cleric (But what cleric isn't) and with metamagic on it is very easy to suck dry the blue juice, but smiling while doing so.
on sarlona send me a tell if u have questions, lots of people do, I'm easy to pick as I am the only one!

Well in PnP my Mystic Theurge was a Bard 4/Druid 3/MT 3 and he most deffinately did not suck. With the better summon spells from Druid (i took Augmented Summoning as one feat) and the ability to buff them with song, I was a massive terror to our DM. It's tough for that DM scripted orc to run from the battle and warn his friends when he has a super charged Hippogryph (flight, scent, and 5 attacks on a pounce) chasing after him. :D
Anyhow I'm taking a very similar approach (sans the summoning since they are all but useless in DDO) with my Bard 4/Cleric 2 that I have been working on. I decided that I would make her every parties best friend. Being able to dole out DV's, resists, haste, good hope, bardsong, healing, and piles of other buffs (and use any wand or scroll in the game with UMD) will allow her to be a party asset even in the late game. I've also decided to take the Bard song for helping casters which should make her even more helpful by saving others mana and being able to DV on top of that means more casting for everyone.
