How do all these people acquire millions of platinum? Selling loot? Where are the good loot runs?
Thanks.

Some ,not all, buy their plat online. Others have been here from day one and have accumulated their wealth. Alot of the loot runs are done on Prisoner of the Planes, Giant Hold, and a couple other areas with high level characters.

It's actually very easy to accumulate millions of plat when you're high level. Only thing is , by that time the plat is worthless to you because you're looking for items no one will sell. If you find a +6 wisdom necklace, and you're a fighter, put a 20 million gold buyout on it and see how fast it sells. You just made 1.4 million plat on 1 item. :) Prison of the planes and Trial by fire are my 2 favorite loot runs, both are very quick and painless with a good group.

Agreed. I was poor until the 2nd look weekend when I had a couple good pulls (actually mostly 1 vorpal that I didn't want back when vorpals were still rare at high level). That kept me comfy until the GH when I found that quite a few items could sell for 1mil plat or more.

OP not sure how new you are to the game but if i were to use your forum joined date... then pretty new.

if you have low lvl char at the moment, i'd suggest the following

1) get up to L8-9
2) farm co6 last part for xp and for loot (2 nice chests and its a fast run)
3) farm threnal east part 2 for xp and for loot
4) this could let you get up to 9-10
5) farm from beyond the grave for loot
6) run chamber of raiyum for loot and xp
7) run relic of the sovereign host for loot and xp
8) this could get you to prolly 11
9) start running gianthold quests for loot (note: elite setting for best bang)

basically most of my new char follow this route and it has given me much pp to play around with.... if i STAY OUT of BUYING from the AH :D

Would strongly suggest selling items on the Auction House if you want to make megabucks. At high level (say 11+), it's very common for items to drop that are great for characters around level 6-8 - dump these on the Auction House with high buyouts. For instance, if you get lucky and find a +2 flaming//pure good dwarven axe, sell it on the AH for 250k PP, you'll get that in no time from someone wanting to twink out their level 6 character.

My main always has around 1mil PP from doing just this.

I owe my wealth to the 1st principle:

Buy low, sell high.

It should be obvious that people set many buyouts very high, perhaps less obvious is the buyouts that are set very low. I can't tell you how many tome's I turned around for 100% profits. Or, exceedingly useful but not so obvious items.

Buy low, sell high.

New patch, new oppertunity.

Did you notice how much folks were willing to pay for relics, then that market shifted to scales.

Buy low, sell high.

Ever notice what the "big 5" sell for.

Buy low, sell high.

The truth of the matter is simple, the poor sell at the taverns, the middle class at the pawn shops, the rich at the auctions. The really wealthy trade among themselves and give away the really good loot.

Money is easy to make in this game. But generally speaking it will not really start adding up until you are capped and running a lot of high end quests.

AH is where the money can really be made. Here is the big trick, put reasonable buy outs on everything and it will sell. You have to understand that a lot of people are impulse buyers. They do not want to wait for 8/24/48 hours for something to end. Put a buyout on it, make it reasonable, rinse/repeat. I make a ton of money buying things out of the House Vendors and put them on AH.

One thing i have always learned in MMO's from back in the day in EQ, FFXi, and WoW when i would setup a personal Bazaar and sell items. Supply and demand. I also will re-iterate buy low and sell high. I have bought some of the most ridiculous uber weapons for coppers. In games like FFXI they had non universal AH i would buy in one AH mail to other city, thus being the supplier for stuff in demand. Im a packrat and horde stuff so it works for me.

I also am a huge broker prospector, see there is a solid population of decked out players selling their +2 +3 +4 items that are high value to other more casual players. With the annoyance of resetting broker instances, i took the time over the last 6 months to memorize peek selling times, and if i do nothing that day i check the shops during those times. Let me clarify, every server has cycles 3-4 mattering on population. I know that at 11-1130 the regulars call it a night so they get done their questing dump on the vendors and call it a night, i also know that around 1-2 am the next crowd does the same so i go shopping i have a high haggle and i buff up and i aquire lots of good items and i store them. I then sell them sporatically on the AH to fund my buying and adventuring.

I always put a buyout even if it is a little high, cause some people are must havers and well you know the rest. I tend not to post already flooded items, worthless too high a supply, if i do for what ever reason(need plat or need space) i usually take the average, and post lower then the lowest basically undercutting my competition with in reason. Alot of this is Business Practices 101.

And of course the treasure trove of quiting toons dumping long stored event items that they have aquired over the years. Did you know that you could sell your Dragon Siberys shards for alot of Plat? did you know that those level 2-4 elemental weapons will sell fast and easily for a decent profit to twinkers who want their noobs to have the best? Did you ever think instead of taking the most expensive item on your end reward taking the enhancement potion? I saved everyone i found or collected from release date on my toons mailing them all to one toon i have a couple hundred ranging from minor, to major and everything in between. havent decided whether to save them till i make a caster, but i have used them for guild raids and such. But its another example of something people will always need because it cant readily be bought.

Just think twice about what you sell to the vendor, through a couple things on auction with buyouts but do the research first see what similar items are selling for and then make the post, some people will post things for god aweful ridiculous prices that even an idiot wouldnt pay.

Dont just look for the one big payout that is where peopel go broke, constant sales yeild constant profit. Also loot weekends, you dont even have to loot to come up big, just check the vendors periodically and you will find treasures there, hold onto them for a week i highly dont recommend posting it that very weekend because everyone else will. Best advice i can give you is watch the pages count on the stuff you are trying to sell. if there are 15 pages of LS, its probably not a good time to sell yours. if there are 3 i say get with the posting. Supply and Demand, and of course buy low sell high or at least higher.

Sir, you miss the point. Your willingness to give your epics and items away is a better gauge of wealth than a collection of coin in your bank account.
