Arcane Spell Failure and Seven-Fingered Gloves, a bug?

When wearing the Seven-Fingered Gloves (which give -10% to ASF), it only affects one item with spell failure.

For example; if I wear a Heavy Mithral Shield that has 5% spell failure, and I wear a set of armor that has 5% spell failure, I still retain a 5% ASF chance.

Is this intended, or an overlooked calculation?

No enhancements or items which reduce ASF effect shield ASF. You must either use a shield with 0% asf naturally, or just deal with the 5%.

And what are you basing that on? Other than, that's the way it's coded.

Seems to me the gloves should reduce shield asf too.

Why?

It makes no sense to me that a Pair of gloves could reduce ASF from Armor but not from a Sheild....

And on this note; it does worth with shields, my Bard/Fighter has the gloves on and a shield with 5% ASF, I don't get that anymore since getting them.

EDIT: Checked my sets, did some testing, and submitted a bug report. When wearing +5 Padded Armor (5% failure), I have no ASF. When wearing a +5 Mithral Heavy Shield (5% failure). I have no ASF.

When wearing both of them, I have ASF. Unless there is a hidden extra +5% ASF for wearing armor you aren't proficient in, I'm not seeing why this happens. But it's reported, and hopefully it gets looked into.

there is a bug, but its just display. My friend currently uses hvy mith ss, and a mith cs, with 1 drow asf enhancement. He gets the asf check on every cast but doesnt fail on even 1%.

I stand corrected, then. I don't have the gloves but I guess I assumed they worked the same as the enhancements do.
