A few quick questions:

First to let you know who I am, I have been playing this for about two weeks now, and love the game even with the difficulties (lag, dying, and not finding same type of player intrest). I am an avid D&D player since 1980, and being stationed in Italy does not allow me the luxury to play the tabletop variety. But this allows me to interact with those D&D players out there and enjoy the game at the same time.

Q1: Is there any law out there to being a tour guide for Newbies. I was thinking I would advertise on here to take newbies around the harbor showing them the taverns and quest people in a group for free. I was thinking I would have them join a group at a particular time inside wavecrest and talk them through the differnt screens, i.e. social panel, char sheet, voice chat, and such. Then take them on a guided tour of harbor section to show them where the taverns, stores, mailbox, auction house, and such are. Lastly while touring the area I would point out the various questing agents in town. I have been doing this for the last week as peopple been asking for help in general chat. I find that most people just jump in without reading a manual, and then have problems or get totally lost. I am trying to bring a little bit of hope to drawing more new players to the game. As I have helped out a few already and they constantly ask for help when stuck in a situatation now, they seem to have liked knowing that someone is online to help them. I was thinking about dedicated time I can be at the wavecrest and show a group of 5 for about twenty minutes, for three groups a night, mostly Fridays (2pm EST) Sundays (10am EST) and Thursdays (4 pm EST). Your reply will be greatly appreciated.

Q2. If you dismiss someone from a party is there any negative consequence to this. I created a party to go through a dungeon and an annoying young person who wouldn't listen to the rest of us, and kept talking constantly irrated the rest of the group so I dismissed him from the group once we got out of the dungeon.. Any feedback you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Q3. Is there anymore named community representatives from turbine on the forums. I have enjoyed reading Kobold Kommunity, and Gelantanious Cubes comments, they had me laughing all day at work.

Thank You Turbine

1: certainly no rule against helping new players... Give it a shot for a week or 2.. Unfortunatly, You'll find many new players dont read the forums(Many long time players for that matter as well) so getting new players together could be difficult.

2:Most people dont have an issue with this.. The person you Dismissed may have negative feeling twoards you though......

3: The Devs used to be very involved... Samera, Quarion, Eldrin, Rockin Dead..... But lately it seems the post their WDA and pop into random threads for one response not to be heard of again.... Its kind of a mystery..... Click on "Dev Tracker" int he upper left corner to see all the dev related posts.

Q1: Is there any law out there to being a tour guide for Newbies.
They tried rewarding such "mentors" a while ago, but it didn't work out well. Personally, I tried it myself and it was awfully boring because I wasn't able to find people to help...
So you can do it, people will appreciate it, but you probably won't get any official recognition.

As far as kicking people out of your party. You can do it, just be aware you could make these people angry at you. But that's what the ignore list is for.

Thank You for the info I really do appreciate it, and I am not looking for anything in return except for newbies to enjoy the game. Apreciate someone reading and replying.

Q1 - Answer: Yes there are designated people who are mentors. I am one of them and I play on Aundair. Mentors are expected to be the ones who welcome the newbies, the not so newbies, or help with questions about quests, strategy or general game play.

q2 - Generally its not acceptable to dismiss someone unless they are really annoying. In your case, ehh oh well. Seems ok to me.

q3 - No just kommunity and the cube. Samera to a point but KK is the commune dude.

Q2 - I've never had to do it except for LD but it happens.

Q3 - You can hit "dev tracker" at the top of the forum to see all "dev" posts. I don't think that will hit moderator posts (KK, cube, etc.)

As I play on Argonnesen and have not seen any mentors there and all the time I see newbies asking where is that how do i do this, and usually no response. I then answer them and show them how to basically play the game and have had several thank me for it. If there are mentors please have them do there job. I do appreciate you reply and thank you very much for the info.

I have also tried to help newbie's on Fernia with my alt Newbi Helper. I post LFM and put looking for new players that need assistance/help in the comments. All I ever get are people that are starting low level alts. And yes, I have sat at the Wavecrest and sent out messages in the General chat box. This is not a commentary on whether or not there are new players joining. It was just been difficult for me to find the new players that are needing help. I must say, it is also annoying when experienced players starting low level alts ask to join my group when the comment section clearly states "assisting new players only".

I really do appreciate you response and will keep my head up. I do belief most newbies go to argo for the fact it is first on the list. Thanks for replying.

Answers from MWA:

1: No way. I am the type of player that when in a group with people new to the quest, and they don not want my input because they want to figure it out themselves. I will make sure no one dies extra hard. If they want advice or understand how to do it better i will give my 2 cp.

2: Not at all. This is a game and if someone is annoying you, dismiss them or ask them to leave. The game is not fun when people are not clicking together.

3: There are a few Monitors of the forums but usually they call upon the Cube. Sometimes the Cube laughs, sometimes it cries, sometimes it gets angry and other times it gets out right MEAN  . As long as you treat people with respect, the cube remains sleeping in his cave with the other oozes.

I would first give them a warning (via a tell probably). I believe a lot of people do not remember they are playing with other people and not just the computer so you need to remind them that the game is meant to be enjoyed by everyone. They need to be dismissed if their actions are causing the game not to be fun for the other five people.

Agronessen?
See cupcake, ziggy, or uhhhh....I cant think of the other one.

Anyway, your free to PM me anytime if you have a question about a quest. Another suggestion is join a guild. Just be very picky with who you guild up with. The Muskateers are the funnest to be with.

Some of the original mentors may have left. Sorry about that.

Other suggestions.
Look up Rons character planner. Very good for making awesome builds.
