View Full Version : Maximum bid of 20 items?

Is it possible to bump this up a bit? I'd rather not have to move money to other characters if I want to bid on more than 19 items.
Another odd thing is if you have 20 bids and someone outbids you on one item, you cannot re-bid on it. You have to cancel the bid, find the item again, then re-bid.
Thanks,

You should be able to rebid and I do it all the time. The only problem I've noticed is if you still have the item highlighted in window when they outbid you the default price when you hit the bid button again is too low so you have to move off the item to something else and back again or manually type in the new bid.

No, you can't rebid when you're at the max bid limit.
I agree 20 is a bit low.

Or you can just reclick the item for the updated bid price...though sometimes I find that the game generated incremental bid is sometimes "too small" prompting all of the error text and hoopla, then you can just manually increase the last pp by 1...but it's still a small p.i.t.a....

When you have 20 bids you can't make any additional bid, raise bid, or buy out an item. It seems to do any of these actions requires a slot. They should make that slot an inaccessible 21st slot.

Correct when at 20 active bids entries, it will not accept any new bidding or buying entries until you clear out one of those 20. annoying, but I can also understand it as well.
Here is a good reason to keep the limit in place. It prevents one characters from simply bidding on everything as easily. It is a form of market control. If you had unlimited bidding, imagine that EVERY STR Item was bid on by that person eventually driving the market up. As it stands now, the bidder needs to choose which items to go after. There is a damper on the inflationary aspect of unlimited bidding. I know if I am after a certain type of item, I will often drop bids on a few of the copies of that item, but not everyone of them.
If you throw into the mix nearly unlimited plat that some bidders might have, and suddenly the benchmark prices you are used to seeing will soon be a distant memory. Now granted some of this inflation is already occuring and is virtually impossible to stop now, but unlimited bidding would make the situation even worse.
I know personally I used to sweat the details of bids, was it worth it to me to pay 5 times the "list price" of an item. That was a huge concern when I only had maybe 10 times the list price of that item in total gold to start with. Now that I might have 100 times the lsit price available to spend, those kind of decisions are non-existant. If it is something I want, I drop a bid down on it. I still have limits, and do not chase those 6 and 7 figure auctions, but the old constraints are pretty much lifted.

I just have to say if having 20 bids outstanding at any one time is a regular problem you are spending way too much time on the AH dude, especially with the AH interface as inefficient as it currently is.

I didn't ask how much time I should be spending at the Auction House, dude.
After a +1 loot weekend where there is loot floating around that won't be seen again until the next level cap increase or the next +1 loot weekend, then yes I'm going to spend some time trying to pick up some nice items. I build up my plat for opportunities like this.
Anyways, this is the development forum where suggestions should be posted. Its not a big deal but is did bug me when I saw other things I wanted to bid on but was unable to so I made a suggestion.

My apologies, that was half in jest and I didn't add a smiley. But it does strike me as an excessive amount of buying at one time, I mean is one character really going to use 20 new items if you win all those auctions? Sorry, the limit just doesn't feel like a hardship to me.

Thanks for the apology. It is more than most people would have done in the anonymous world of forum posting.
No, it wasn't for one character. I have a character who, due to some big sales, has most of my platinum and he shops for most of my other characters. I wouldn't consider it a hardship either but I would like to make more than 20 bids from time to time. With my successful bids since the +1 loot weekend I've been able to upgrade over 15 items for my characters so far and I have another 10 or so bids remaining. It would have taken a very long time to loot the items I was able to obtain from a couple hours of shopping the Auction House.

I hit this limit all the time because I have one person that buys for all my other characters. Please increase the limit.

Yep, major hassle, especially with a character buying for multiple characters.
Also when I'll bid on a series of the same item, 10 or so, knowing I might only win one of them (like I'm trying to get a few more vials of pure water).

While we're at it how about a listing limit bump too? Not sure what it is but after a while when you've built up some collectibles or loot it can be a bother. Yes I can mule stuff to other characters to list but that's annoying to have to do.
