for a while, i used dual holy weapons against these but then i decided to randomly use my dual +5 shock light maces that i would typically use against undead on elite quests and the +5 shocks did full melee damage (red numbers) with no reduction, and full 1d6 shock damage! everyone, grab a shock weapon and these cats actually go down very fast.... i had em dead on elite within 2 rounds of dual wielding

it might be that blunt weapons are they only thing that work and deal full damage to them? maybe they have dr against pierce/slash? either way, shock blunt weapons work great :)

my mistake junior, razor cats in maze of madness :)

Seems to me they have a DR10/Bludgeon.

Acid and Force also Bypas their DR...

this brings up a question i've had for a long time...

is there any reason why we shouldn't be able to see damage reduction information or vulnerabilities of a mob when we examine them? or is that supposed to be part of the 'fun'/challenge of ddo?

i can fully accept that it's supposed to be part of the challenge... i'm just curious what other people think.

Last I checked, most badguys don't come with a label that says
"Please insert piercing item for maximum effect, Thank you for slaying me"

Don't think its bludgeon, I get red numbers using a slasher shock weapon too

yeah, its definitely bludgeon
ive got a longsword of greater magical beast bane that i dont even use in there due to the incredibly low numbers i get off the initial damage

which is why i got a heavy mace of greater bane off the AH :D

Good advice and thanks. with the high number of different types of DR on some of the monsters its great to have someone say hey this worked well for me.
It is so frustraing to wade into a small mob after buffing my strneght to 26 swing a +2 holy war ax and see single digit single numbers with no pluses. then switch to something else and see double digit numbers with 2 pluses, as i get incapped. If only I had know......

Maybe someone could start a crossreferenced DR or Max damage thread with some real in game stats. Not the DR thread we have that shows which bypass what. (thanks for that by the way)

something along the lines of

WF Pally 10 buffed to 26 strength using pure adamantine rapier hit construct( in von 5) for double digits with + single digits 4 or 5 swings.

Drow fighter 8, strenght 19 Dex buffed to 22 using +3 flaming Kama hit Ice flensor ( in TS) for double digits + double digits + single digits 3 out 5 swings.

But i'm definently gonna try my +5 shock morningstar on those cats...thanks again

Razor Cats - DR 20/bludgeoning
Ancient Arachnids - DR 15/Piercing
Raksasha - DR 15(?)/Good, Piercing
Jariliths - DR /Good, Cold Iron

That should be most of the gianthold stuff
