OK, there've been a million posts asking for a server merge.

I'd like to add yet another.

Why, you might ask? Well, because I think that the game would really benefit in grand ways from the mixing up of all the new players, styles, guilds, etc. that would come from a server merge.

Higher populations = more excitement = more fun.

New people to group with. New faces. New names.

Fun, fun fun.

That is all.

Your thread title is false advertising. This is just the same server merging stuff being said everywhere else, and therefore I found it less than interesting. Now I'm angry because you've tricked me into reading and posting in your server merge thread.

Here's some information about server merges in DDO-Europe...

http://www.ddo-europe.com/faq.php?type=Server+Merge

They have lots of info in their forum as well. They only have 2 servers, now... :(

I think what Taur means, is he believes server merges are not a good idea. I agree.

I'd like to add yet another./facepalm

Why, you might ask? Well, because I think that the game would really benefit in grand ways from the mixing up of all the new players, styles, guilds, etc. that would come from a server merge.Doubtful, I think it would suffer from all the issues a server merge creates.

Higher populations = more excitement = more fun.I'd actually be happier most of the time if there were a few less people.(certain people)

New people to group with. New faces. New names. This is not always a good thing. I can think of a few people from my server you probably wouldn't be pleased to group with and I am sure there are a few on yours I wouldn't.

Fun, fun fun.

That is all.

You misled us, this was the same old "server merge" post.

With the lag issues seen during the high populations from the Lootapulloozas, you've got to be seriously kidding about thinking of a server merge.

I would recommend they let you know what is the most populated server and player loads (so you can see how many people are on during your peak playing times) then allow you to move your characters to a new server - so if you want to merge, you can.

Disagree here. Merge all or not at all.

If we follow your plan, desolate servers will become even harder to play on with fewer players.

BTW, I looked at the Euro pre-server merge discussions. Looked a lot like the US discussions we've been having for a while.... just an observation.

A server merge where I lose my character names is the only thing I can see causing me to quit this game.

I stand by loki on this one. No to server merges!

seriously, argonessen seems like its suffering a population issue. I would guess its happening on the other servers too.

Also, do your server a favor, join a pug!

I did catch the date, -1 for MalarKan for trolling up a 5 year old post. This wasn't an accidental resurrection, this was intentional.

Higher populations = more visual clutter, more lag, less unique server diversity = No fun

Definitely opposed to the idea in general;
Though Wayfinder continues to be a desolate wasteland, and I wouldn't mind getting free character transfers off of it.

Edit: Oh, pfff. People really need to stop trolling the graveyards :P

im just seeing veteran players leaving the game and LFMs are quite rare now, veterans pugs each time less... a server merge would allow new faces of veteran players

the only isue i see with a server merge is the names coincidence and people getting free rename tokens is an easy fix... still, i like my names :P ... however the server population seems to be going down... a server merge is a very viable solution and, if its a server wide issue, it could even be inminent

And the reason i ressurrected this thread was just to put back on topic something that already happened and might happen again. No need to give bad reputation when the whole idea is to debate :)

Pays to read more than just the first post from time to time.

Necro record?

I suppose if you're going to necro something, you may as well go for broke. Are you sure there isn't a February 2006 thread that could have brought up the same points? Try harder.

I typically do read, or at least browse through all the posts involved (and look at dates), but it gets a bit harder when you're using your phone ;)

The reason you're getting bad reputation is that it's not considered appropriate to restart old threads on [any forum I've ever seen]. When you want to bring back an old topic, the correct method is to start a new thread, and, if you want to use the old one as a reference, to link to it in the initial post of the thread.
Think of it as a business referring back to an old memo along with a fresh memo on the subject, rather than digging up a memo from years ago and resending it, without being able to modify its details.

Many forums will auto-lock old threads for the same considerations.

Part of the reason this is frowned upon is the issue of revelancy.

This topic had a completely different meaning when applied to the context of the time frame. This original post was made in 2007, which for all intents and purposes, was a different age as far as this game is concerned.

BTW.......When did all the mergers take place?
