View Full Version : New Cleric Guild Question

I have put a lot of thought into this and was inspired by the all cleric group that someone was trying to form. I realize this isn't the guild forum but wanted some general input as well.

I've seen (and experienced) numerous times where groups can't start or wipe repeatedly on a quest because of a lack of available and willing clerics. I have heard of people waiting and hour or more looking for a cleric. These problems seem persitent. There are numerous reasons for the lack of clerics which I will not go into as that is not the purpose of this post.

What I propose is a guild of Clerics dedicated to filling the gap that exists. A guild with the following dynamics:

1) Have available as much as possible clerics of different levels with the sole purpose of hiring out to groups as they are needed.

2) That's right hiring out: our services would cost the group a nominal fee based on the level of the quest.

3) Even though not all of us who like clerics want to play the heal-bot that is what we would be for the group hiring us.

4) Would also have low level clerics availbe to help new players through the early low level quests such as goodblades and low road. This service would be free of charge.

5) The money charged ( and I mean in game plat not real life dollars) would be used within the guild to outfit us with the proper tools.

6) If we get this running everyone would have assinged times to be availbe for hire.

7) The purpose of this is to help out the community with a need so the more people willing to help out wiht a little of their time the better.

8) Intially will be on Argonnnesen but can be expanded to others.

Is there any interest in this. Help me if you will.... Flame me if you must.

Input welcome

It's a neat idea, I think, though wouldn't it make sense to not do it on Argonneson, since that is the most populous server. I'd think that doing it on lower pop servers would be a better choice.

That is actually a good thought. Although not sure which one. Perhaps if weI can generate enought interest starts on multiple servers would be good.

This idea is out there to help the community.

Sorry to stop your dreaming but, isn't a guild made for easier grouping?

That's what I see. It is a lot easier to find clerics since I have a few of my levels guild. I see no need to create a guild with only clerics in, just join or create guild . If you create one, just make sure to recruit enough clerics and you'll be fine.:)

If you want to give a new server a try, Tharashk will be overflowing with lowbies on June 22nd (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=108232). ;)

You are not stopping my dream Borro, the whole purpose of this guild is to make finding a cleric easier. Not everyone is in or wants to be in a guild and I have heard numerous complaints about the lack of clerics. This is a costly class as wands are expensive and not everyone gives as they should. This is a way to make things easier and just an idea. If no one likes oh well but then again I say stop your whining then!

Interesting, but makes me think of pay day lenders, just a little sad and oportunistic.

i think that this idea is a good one but i have a coupple of questions:

1: what lv clr would be the guild leader
2: would teh money that is made go to the guild leader or the clr that helped the grp. out?
3: if there is not a lv requirement for the leader i would like to put in a request to be the guild leader in Lazzhar( sorry if miss-spelled) i have a lv 1 drow clr that woulud be pretty good
4: would there be any officers?, would there be any members?, what about if the person had all ready done teh quest would he/she get paid for helping the group on a high lv quest?
5: what is the name of the guild cause i might just start it up on Lazzhar(sorry if miss spelled)
6: are we just haveing one race per guild or are we multi-raceing our guild?

I have thought about this same idea before, but alienating can result in other guilds forming with just tanks, arcane and rogues. I have a level 14 cleric on ghandalla. I would like to find out the results of this guild if you keep posting. It wouldn't neccessarily be a rent a cleric, but more for the benefit of trying to get people to start rolling more cleric classes. I know Ive spent ridiculous amounts of plat on healing zerg thw tanks on high end content, so I would like to see your follow up

I play on Aundair and while sometimes we have to set the LFM to cleric only cause that's the only class we need and there is 1 spot left it never takes an hour to get one maybe 15 min.

Anyone who asks for donations and such just to be in a group is gonna be seen as greedy. With quests like PoP there is absolutely no reason why you should have to beg for cash. No one is gonna want to give you money when they can just find one willing to do it for free. Maybe on other servers its different but at peak times its easy to find a cleric and only if no one else is on is it hard and then sure if ive been waiting a long time perhaps I'd consider it but its still greedy when plat is so easy to make.

I believe the main issue you will run into is getting people who actually want to participate into this guild. The only incentives are:
- money (but you can't charge too much if you want this to work)
- desire to help other people (but you can do this without being stuck in a guild that does not offer you anything besides a bit of money)

I don't believe many people would be interested by this... but I can be wrong of course, so good luck! :)

The idea here was to help out the communities as they need it for clerical support. Money is not the issue here. I personally, nor anyone in the guild would be about the money but healing wands are costly as are rez scrolls. The "fee" charged is to replenish healing wands, rez scrolls etc. While it may be boring so is sitting in the Mcdonalds drive thru but I bet you all like the fact that at 3 am you can still go thru that drive thru and get a Big Mac.

The idea and purpose of this guild is to help out the community. It could be started on multiple servers at the same time. There is no level required to be leader simply the deisire to help. All races and even multi-class clerics (as long as main class is cleric) would be welcome.

I have read numerous posts complaining about the lack of clerics. So either support the idea or stop griping about it...and that is the bottom line.

i would rather be in an all cleric guild that groups together though.
