Here is the story of Brianius and his compadre's

The Arrival

A seagulls screech was the first sign that they were nearing land. Brianius had traveled far from home during the war and was finally returning home. Smugglers Rest was a quick stop before making the last leg of the trip to Stormreach, the gateway to Xendrik. Here the ship will resupply and head out back to the waves.

It was just a memory now but the war was real, the destruction that happened at cyre that he was almost part of. Brianius had been recruited by House Cannieth to train War Forged scouts. Although these constructs were just mere wood, metal and powerful magic they still showed all the signs of many humanoids had. Although most understood the idea of scouting many lacked the subtly that it requires to be a truly good scout. Brianius had few friendships there but those he made still last to this day.

As Stormreach came into view a rush came over Brianius for he was glad to be back to the land he was born in. As the ship docked Brianius visited the tavern just off the docks. He still had a long trek ahead of him. His tribe should be nearing Zawabi’s Refuge about this time of year. What Brianius did not know that giant raiders had wiped his tribe out when they had passed to close to one of what had been thought as a abandoned giant ruins.

As he entered the bar it had the familiar sent of sea water, brewed ales and fine wines hung in the air but the unique odor of tasty ham of wild boar was even coming through the walls. As he neared the barkeep he thought about what he might order and decided some Olde Sully's might just do it for him.

"Old' Sully, and be quick about it I don't plan on staying long in Stormreach"
"Sorry Sir but the only Cask we have left is in the basement and I’m far to busy to get it right now,
But if you get it for me you've got one on the house."
"Fine, but only if you add a ham to the list also"

As Brianius descended into the basement the smell of ham lessened and various brews grew but the smell of the sea also grew and he wondered if there were any undersea passages near here. As he lifted the Old Sully's off the floor the sound of grinding stone filled the room as a secret door opened up in front of him. Inside were some nearly burnt out ever glowing lights and parts of wooden furniture but nothing recognizable. In the back was a door and curiosity overtook him. as he entered a ancient looking gateway the sent of seawater was overwhelming and waves could be heard above. As Brianius examined the door ahead of him he found a lever that looked like it could open the stone passage to something deeper.

As he pulled the lever it creaked, groaned and gave a recently familiar sound of stone rubbing against stone. Being cautious he snuck forward down a passageway. At what seemed the far end of the tunnel he could see a light possibly a fire. As he drew nearer the sound of snoring grew and hung and echoed of this small caverns walls. At a small camp he saw only one guard, a kobold and he was sleeping. Taking a quick look for booby traps Brianius readied an arrow and fired. It was slain and creeping up to the camp another door came into view checking for provisions that he could use on his trip Brianius found some trinkets, gold and some kind of stone trinket that gave a feeling of evil when he picked it up.

Unsure about what might lie beyond this new door he headed back to the tavern and possibly mention this to the barkeep and talk to the brother of the Silver Flame he saw in the tavern about the item he just found. As he ascended the stairs with the cask of Old Sully's thoughts of the patron’s safety came to mind and he must see if there is a threat and he might make out in the deal if he can convince the barkeep to make it worth his while. A few members of what looked like the city watch were here with some forged, a few thieves and some beggars made up most of the patronage.

"Heres you go found something unusual down there."
"Really, what might would you consider unusual in my basement" the barkeep said sarcastically as he poured the grog.
"Well a secret door that leads to a kobold camp would be unusual in most basements."
"Well those blasted kobold got into my basement, eh, well I might make it worth your while if you can clear those blasted things out. They crawl through out the sewers kidnapping girls, I don’t need them kidnappings my patrons or even my daughter."
"First I have some business with the silver flame then I will dispatch of your scaly rats."
"Fine just be quick about it."

As Brianius left the bar he looked to see if the brother of the silver flame was still here. The priest as near the bar between the door that he just came from and the counter.
"Brother I found this foul item near the rear of a hidden tunnel below this establishment."
Let me see."
Brianius handed him the trinket that had been sitting near the kobold in a pile of treasures.
"By the Flame return to the place you found this and advert any tragedy if you can before it is to late!"

Brianius moved swiftly to the door he left unopened.

As he entered the basement the secret door hadn’t closed and he passed into the hidden room. The stone gate had been shut. Has he pulled the lever he readied his scimitar and snuck into the tunnel again.. As he headed back to the camp he saw a kobold on patrol and extremely alert. As the creature neared, Brianius leapt from the shadows and swung at the beasts midsection. As the sword struck its target the beast let out a last call for help. It went unanswered.
Brianius crept up to the door, the camp left unattended and at this point he wished he had his friends that he left behind were next to him. He wasn’t scared but it was always comforting to have someone watching your rear when you enter battle. As he pulled the lever to open this door it gave the same sounds that the last door did.

As he peered around the corner he saw a confused kobold wondering why the door opened. He readies his bow and fired. The shot hit the creature in the throat and its gurgling yelp it gave called others to its spot as it fell dead in a pool of its own blood. Brianius dropped his bow and pulled his sword from its sheathe and swung at the first kobold and struck its chest with a fatal blow, the next scaly rat swiped at him and Brianius tumbled out of reach of its scaly claw and leaped forward and severed its arm from its body. At this point a kobold resting in the back was awake and charging him. Brianius ready to block its attack leapt over the creature and swung at its back just missing the reptile. It turned around and swung at Brianius and ripped his leather armor leaving Brianius unscathed. Off balance from that attack Brianius swung at the kobold and slew it with all his might.

As he searched the room trying to catch his breath he saw another door and a small chest.

"Well at least I'll get something out of this but how much further does this goes."

As he opened the door another kobold ran through the door and took a swing at Brianius. Brianius swung his sword at the foul beast and grazed it chest and the beast countered with another attack from its claws. Brianius finally dispatched with a swing at its side. With the noise of Brianius and that last kobold three kobolds sleeping awoke one on a small ledge and two started to charge. Brianius swung at a kobolds legs tripping it as the other lunged with a dagger in hand. As the kobold fell Brianius barely missed the attack from the other kobold. He swung his sword at the creatures head and without any sound he fell. The kobold on the ground was about to stand up as Brianius stabbed it in its chest with a scream its let go of its last breath. The kobold on the ledge had been trying to pelt Brianius with rocks with the accuracy of a blind fish jumping through hoops. Brianius reached for his dagger and threw it at the kobold as it fell off the ledge with a thud.

A pit with a ladder leading down was in the middle of this new room as Brianius went down a feeling of tremendous evil overcame him. As he reached the bottom the far end of the pit was an alter. The alter was covered in many types of bones and rotting flesh and many types of trinkets of evil design. Brianius poured the holy water on the table as the brother told him to. Before the last drop fell out of the vial the whole cavern started to shake. As Brianius left the pit and ran out of the room a lone figure was standing in the way.

“The Devourer has been upset this day and you shall pay with your blood."

Brianius ran towards the cleric with his scimitar raised. The cleric ready for a strike was knocked down with the force of the blow. Brianius swung at the clerics legs but he just barely dodged the blow. As the cleric got back on to his feet Brianius swung again, this time he connected and knocked the shield of the cleric back into his head. The cleric swung his pick at Brianius but he deflected it with his scimitar. Brianius counters with a low blow taking the cleric down. As the clerics breath slowed and stopped the shaking dimmers as well. As he returned to the bar he could hear the alarm of patrons above.

"Barkeep I have completed the task now about payment"
"Fine I owe you but it won't be as much because of the ruckus you caused"

As the gold pieces fell into Brianius's bag he left hoping his family will be on time.
