Turbine PUG Anatomy
So every week we have a “play night” with the staff. It’s an important activity on several levels. It helps us to understand the game, it’s good for team building, and it can even help us catch tricky bugs at times!

A big thanks to everyone who came to see us at this year’s Gamescom in Köln, Germany!
The How’s and Why’s of Reporting Bugs
Who doesn’t like to dress their pets up for the holidays? I know I love giving my Iron Defender a fun spooky outfit for the Mabar Festival of Endless Night.
I really love planning out my Cannith Crafting items. Sometimes, the more complex and cool they are, the better! But sometimes even the most dedicated crafter has “leftover” essences, or just wants to make something quick.
I like a good challenge. Whether it’s climbing a mountain, losing weight, or defending an island from invading mudmen, there’s something about meeting a challenge that just makes you feel good!
Getting a good night’s sleep in Stormreach can sometimes be difficult. The bed might be too hard, the inn might be too drafty, or the wailing cries of the undead outside your window might disrupt your peaceful slumber!
Rune Arms all contain a certain amount of crafting potential; in this case the potential is +3. That means you can craft any shard up to a +3 potential onto it! Keep in mind that adding to the potential of the Rune Arm can dramatically increase the minimum level of an item, so be careful! Also note that you can only apply a shard to a Rune Arm once! The Rune Arm cannot be deconstructed, and the shard cannot be replaced, so keep that in mind when preparing to craft onto it!
Some of the most powerful things you can make in Cannith Crafting have special recipe ingredients required to make them.
Cannith crafting isn’t just about making something nice…it’s about making a whole bunch of nice things! If you put in the time and effort, Cannith crafting can help you quickly equip all sorts of gear as you level up.
One of the key items every person in Stormreach needs is something to boost their main statistics. If you are the burly fighter-type, it’ll be Strength and Constitution, if you’re one of those “I read books and cast spells”-types, it’s probably Intelligence or Charisma.

It’s hard to make bacon without a pig, milk without a cow, or an adamantine longsword without adamantine. You’ve gotta have the basics to make the things you want! That’s why today’s column is all about Essences! You can’t craft without these Greater and Lesser Essences, and there are a bunch of ways to get them!

Taking a detour from all my recent language blogs to talk about some game specific fun. Since U11 is next week, it seemed like a good time to talk about some of the work that went into this update from a story telling perspective!
Recently a discussion came up on my twitter feed about giving people examples of good and bad bug reports that players submit to us. After all, bug reporting is similar to actionable feedback - it’s not something that is instinctive to the average consumer. Now I could cull through our bug reports and find some great and terrible player-entered bug reports to dissect, but I didn’t think that was fair. Instead, I’m going to pull a very special bug report. Journey with me back in time…
I keep hearing a comment that has lead me to believe I am…unusual in the way I play DDO. Too often I hear from my friends, my co-workers, or even just random players I PUG with that they don’t understand how it is I’m never out of plat on my characters. I thought maybe it had something to do with the classes I play, but as I’ve started to expand the variety of what I play I’m noticing that I still have coin to spare. This tells me that something I’m doing is different, so I thought it might be fun to share some of the habits I’m doing that seem to be working well for me. Some of it may seem…odd…but then again I’m never in a position where I can’t afford the things I want when I want them, so how bad can it be?
With a new year upon us, it’s a good time to take some precautions to make sure that your game account is secure! Here are some of the common ways that players end up with compromised accounts, and tips on keeping your account safe!
